Going to get a lot of hate but he's no Jeff Fisher.

He has been covering football as an analyst and while being a coach is different......I think he's still up to date on the NFL. I don't think the game has passed him by, he's still a relatively young 54.

He is a good x's and o's person and a tremendous motivator. He is however horrible at evaluating talent. So if hired the Raiders will do well his first year and slowly migrate into a mediocre team.

I think for the Raiders is a great move, the #1 priority for them is to get Carr back on track, and thats what Gruden does best

I think he'll just be the HC, I dom't think he's going to be the GM and he denied he will get an ownership stake.

Part of it, the other part seems like a confidence thing, he became the master of the dumpoff this season, almost afraid to let it loose downfield

True. I want them to try and fix the defense. I was pissed during games this season.

Too much is left to Carr to try and outscore the other team.

I think he is vastly overrated, although he talks a great game.

His record as a head coach is 95/81 (540 winning percentage) and in the playoffs 5/4. He did win a SB with Herm's team.

And to be fair, he should have won a SB with the Raiders if the league didnt make up a rule on the fly in order to help the Patriots win

It is a lean HC class this year. Gruden is good as anyone out there. I read last night the Raiders are moving on from Crabtree. I guess there are some personnel issues there

He's a good coach and great with qb's. I don't know if he'll be the coach who gets the Raiders back to the Super Bowl, but I agree with Dirt, he should be able to get Carr back on track.

Thats not true, that Raider offense was a machine that season, and I remember John Lynch saying that Gruden prepared that defense to be ready for every single play they ran that day, Tampa shut them down like no one else that season

Unless Im reading it wrong, you are not giving Gruden credit for the Tampa Bay SB win

All im saying is because he was the former Raiders coach, a lot of Tampa players went on record saying Gruden had them prepared for everything the Raiders threw at them that day
