Again, this is about the dollars he will be demanding, and whether his career has dictated that so far

He'll be 26 when he becomes an unrestricted free agent at a time when MLB is rolling in cash. Those are extremely advantageous circumstances for him.

Name another player in that situation that's put up the numbers he has.

very good career, not to his potentiasl or as he was touted.

not "GREAT" yet. yet.

he needs to be healthy and consistent for a few years.

Yes, lets not forget people were split on Harper vs Trout, I dont think its been close

Yeah, I don't consider 22 mlb HR's "pretty good" as a 19 year old. Apples to apples, the .285/150/421he has posted through age 24 vs the .258/84/223 through age 24 of another "pretty good'' slugger....Barry Bonds. Kid is a 5X AS at 24. OP might want to google David Clyde...
you are misunderstanding the entire point of this thread.

I mean if OPS is the only number that now counts, in a HR riddled league, I guess you would be right

As we approach the winter of "500 million for Bryce Harper"

So I have the #4 pick in my big money draft, so I started to look at Goldy/Arenado/Betts/Harper

Correct me if im wrong here

Has Bryce Harper lived up to the hype a grand total of ONE season his entire career, and been otherwise nothing more than "pretty good" ?

Im starting to think this is the most overhyped player (so far) ever

I'm not betting on Harper there.

The key is to try and find profit.

Betts and Arenado are good bets there.

Goldy's bags are starting to drop, I wouldn't expect those to bounce back, and you now have the humidor factor, it's an unknown, but do you wanna risk 1-4 in a big money league with such an unknown factor hanging over your head?

I hear ya, I think its Goldy vs Betts actually, Altuve/Trout/Arenado look like the sure 3

I read a piece on the humidor, and this piece made it out to be a very very big deal, and numbers should drop drastically accross the board in Arizona

I don't know how much the humidor will factor, but it's a HUGE unknown to risk at 1-4.

Also, no thoughts on Trae Turner? I know a few mocks have him going 1-3. I'm passing there too.

I think you are. If you lined up every player in the history of baseballs numbers through age 24, he is right there with anyone. How is that "most over hyped ever"? Absurd

yup, he's being kept, should have mentioned it a keeper league

4 keepers - Mine are beniditi, Seager, Pham and Bergman (Schoop in the mix still)

The dude that got the #2 pick, who will be Trout - Kept Judge/Stanton and JD Martinez....LOL

It's worth noting that at 22 years old, he had the best offensive season by a player since Barry Bonds' bloodstream was 2/3rds anabolic steroids.

So 42HR/99RBI/.330avg (in 153 games) is better than 44HR/137RBI/.348avg (in 148 games)?

For some reason, I've never liked Bryce Harper.

I really love him, and he is a last rounder for me, which is very important

Other consideration could be Schoop/Travis Shaw with pretty late picks, but thats about it
