During the draft I was bragging on the 76ers non stop but I have to admit what I see. I think we can all agree Embiid will be great IF he can stay healthy and Ben Simmons is looking like a baller too BUT, and I know its early, Fultz is all really looking like a bust. Slow, cant shoot, cant defend, hesitant. We lost a potentially nice pick on top of selecting him.

Got to man up and admit I was wrong.

It's early... very early. That being said...

... I'm a bit pessimistic on him, too. I've seen 2 Sixers games and Fultz doesn't look overwhelming in his physical attributes...
  • He has a quick first step, but it's not lightning quick
  • He has decent size for a PG, but he's having all kinds of trouble finishing shots at the rim. He got his shot blocked several times in each of the games I saw.
  • His shot from the outside isn't there... and his foul shots look dreadful.
Now, they say he is hurt and that is affecting his shooting form.... (in that case, why on earth are the Sixers playing him??)... and, oh yeah, dude is super young and we're only a few games in to his rookie season.

So it's way too early for any pronouncements... but I can see cause for initial concerns.

Judging a rookie 2 games into his career is not a great idea if you ask me

Give the kid a year, it's not often any rookie makes much of an impact year one.

When does Philly play Phoenix, anyways?...

I'm not claiming that's Ball's norm, that will be somewhere in between games 1 and 2.

As far as Fultz, judging by that free throw form that shoulder isn't healthy. He should get that fixed before he really screws himself up, if he truly is injured.

Normally I would agree, but there is legitimate concern here.

HE was compared to Kyrie coming out of college, but he can't shoot. Like not at all. If you are a guard relying on skills over athleticism, you can't just be an average shooter, you have to be a very good one. This isn't your typical early season rookie struggles.

If he is injured, he needs to sit out. He is not helping himself or the team. If he is changing his shot for some god foresaken reason, he probably also needs to sit out until he grooves it. A guard can't be learning how to shoot while competing in NBA games.

Altering shooting mechanics takes time. It looks as if Fultz is stuck between his old shooting form and a new form that honestly looks busted anyway. Either way, hurt or not, he needs to take time away from competition and get this right.

He appears pudgy and his shoulder is injured. This affects his athleticism and shot. Dude needs to cut at least 10 lbs of fat and perhaps sit for a month or so and let the shoulder heal up. However, I was never impressed with his college games. I never thought of him as the best all around player. I thought maybe top ten but not #1. I think the C's got a steal with Tatum. Already he's looking decent with averaging 12 ppg 9 reb and 2 ast

Yeah Fultz has looked less impressive early on so far. No finishing moves other than that stupid dribble spin. Horrible and I mean horrible free throw shooter for a guard. Keep bringing him off the bench until he learns how to play in the nba.

Teams and players need to get used to the new season. We should get a better picture after 8-10 games.

What the hell did the coaching staff do to Fultz’s free throw form? He did not shoot like that in college.

If he's hurt, he needs to sit.

If he's not or the horrible shooting isn't related to an injury, he might need to go to the d-league for a bit to work on his shot.

I don't think that's ever happened to a #1 pick before, but it might be the best thing for him.

D league won't help him work on his shot.

He needs time in the gym by himself. Can't work on form during games. In fact, playing in games only makes it take longer to groove a new shooting form.

I read today that Fultz says his shoulder is hurt. He's not even attempting jump shots because of it. Why the fuck is Philly playing him? You can absolutely wreck a kid working on his shooting motion with a bum shoulder. They still won't play Embiid on back to backs but Fultz is a full go? That's just fucking stupid

2 games in and you're writing the kid off? Go throw snowballs at Santa Claus.

Seriously, give the kid a chance. He looked pretty good in summer league before rolling his ankle. I'm not saying he's gonna be a star... I'm just saying its way to early to throw in the towel on him

LOL at the overreaction. I think the Sixers, for the first time, are taking the wrong approach with the kid. I think they're starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel and are rushing him back. If he's injured and/or needs recovery time, he should get it. Work on his conditioning in the mean time if it's a shoulder issues. Get his body right for the NBA. He wasn't a bad shooter in college, so it's plausible that this shoulder injury is affecting him way more than anyone is giving credit.

I'd say he needs to work on his conditioning and then he'll need to improve his finishing at the rim. He's got size that he's going to need to be able to utilize.
