I'm at least 50 miles from the outskirts of Seattle, but we have crazy hills and some of the most turbulent and unpredictable skies in the country. Even radio is hit and miss. Spent a number of years running CB and ham and this region is just terrible for stable transmissions.

Getting irritated with my antenna for my local channels. I bought a GE bar that is supposedly amplified and I'm still having trouble consistently picking up my local ABCchanmel.

first thing I recommend is going to this site to see how far you actually are from the HD broadcast antenna:

AntennaWeb.org

You might be surprised to find out where they are. For instance, I live in the city, about a mile away from the local CBS channel's offices & antenna. Only that's just the old analog broadcast; the HD antenna is about 20 miles outside of town. For some reason most of the network HD antennas are in the same general area. I can pick those stations up most of the time. For some reason the NBC channel gives me problems, but I can normally get it if I power on my amplified antenna.

Oh I've used that site before. Where I'm at I can get the CW, PBS, and something called ION TV. That's it. Not a thing more.

What is special about July 7? Don't subscribers have to wait until their contract is up to cut cable?

That part I didn't get either...maybe like the great smokeout day where people stop smoking on a certain day.

I'm giving it some serious thought...I'm trying to convince the wife, but we have about 18 mos left on a 2 yr contract we just signed for $145....I got rid of satellite and Sun Tkt about 4 yrs ago. I streamed NFL games last season for $40 for the yr and it was okay about 720p...a little choppy at times, but not bad.

I have my sling dropped right now. I won't subscribe again until football season. I either watch Netflix or watch local stations over the antenna(usually old shows).

Fuck those motherfuckers

DigitalDirectTV.com...is what I used last year.

Interesting, I just went on their site and I'm not seeing the link to NFL streaming right now.
Huh. That's interesting. If I could stream NFL games I would get rid of cable without a second thought.

Seems like they would be promoting it now if they had it again...it's a different experience from watching a regular telecast on dish or cable, but I was certainly intending on buying it again.
