I can remember that night like it was yesterday.
My cousin was on the stack that afternoon. Tried to call as soon as I heard. The phones were all tied up. Didn't know till that night that he was ok.
My future wife worked at the Blynn FA office and said it was crazy there with people calling to have students check on because they couldn't get through on the phones.
All my friends were on the Care Team and their pagers started blowing up. Went out, not thinking it was anything too serious. It was some seriously messed up stuff that I still don't discuss. The next morning we all loaded up and went to a guys lake house, don't even know where it was. Looking back it was a dick move because we were all so struck by what happened we just disappeared up there for the weekend. Got back and most of our parents weren't too happy, didn't have cell coverage out there.
Yeah, as a parent now, I can see how your parents were none to pleased.
How many died? Forgot all about the bonfire accident. Damn been 14 years.
12 were killed, a few dozen injured.
