Did any of yall see the Florida State-Mississippi State game yesterday?

I caught the very end of it.

There's a 2+ hour rain delay in the bottom of the 9th with FSU leading MSU 2-0.

FSU's pitcher had thrown the full 8 innings, but after the rain delay is over, FSU's manager sent the kid back out there. 130 pitches on the night. Florida State wound up losing the game and ending their season on a 3 run walkoff, and FSU's manager put his pitcher's health at risk with this decision.

One of the problems with big time college sports. The AD and coach have big money riding on the results and little to nothing riding on the welfare of the kids. Big time conflict of interests.

Baseball (and hockey), in general, though is handled better than the other sports with their minor leagues. Basketball is trending in this direction. Football will not go here until the NCAA is abolished.

FSU's coach has been there forever.

He needed a win yesterday to get his 40th consecutive 40+ win season. You'd think he'd know better by now.

So HE had a lot riding on the outcome of THAT GAME. “Screw the kids future, I want to protect my streak.”

It’s hard to believe with the level at which FSU recruits that they didn’t have a quality fresh arm in the bullpen. Seems like a serious lack of trust from the manager.

What gets lost in the controversy is how absolutely insane that homerun was though. MSU’s season was literally down to one last strike.

Ended FSU's season in Tallahassee.

We even see this a little bit in situations where it doesn't injure the kid, like all of the guys that have been drafted high and then washed out of the minor leagues with the "Stanford swing".

Ugh, such an awful swing.

Ruined many a good hitter.

No good pro hitter uses the stanford swing.

College baseball is rife with abuse. Especially come the post season.

Exhibit A: Former UT pitcher says moment worth the pain

169 pitches.

My HS teammate threw 192 pitches in the state semi finals (we lost in 10, he pitched 9). Kid was never the same again.

Glad they lost. Hope the kid doesn't have arm issues.
