It's not totally complete, but it's basically there- I'd say I have 95% of the films I've seen and rated in my life on there. Here's a random screenshot of it

I recently transferred it into to a programming language called R, and am playing around with it. Nothing riveting has come from it (and I'm no expert in R), but I did want to share a breakdown of all the numbers of ratings I have. For those who think I hate movies, this might tell you otherwise

What do you think your graph of movie ratings looks like? In other words, do you think you enjoy or dislike most of the films that you watch?

I think the movies that I am starting to "dislike/think aren't that great" are creeping up. Don't have any sort of chart though... Perhaps I'll start one

As an aside on Training Day (this has nothing to do with my rating of it), it was the movie that got me into movies in general. I saw it when I was 15 and realized the potential that could be realized with cinema. I haven't looked back since.

Out of curiosity, what rating do you give Training Day?

For those interested in the full thing, I can't upload the file, but I took a screenshot of each page. There's also other information on there (runtime, RT critic and audience scores) that are included for each movie but that I couldn't fit for each page

I'd guess:

10% Just Terrible
50% Almost made the "just terrible" cut, but could sit thru it until the end.
30% Unremarkable but my ass didn't get tired half way thru.
9% Really good would recommend.
1% A great movie. Something you just don't get much of.

I definitely appreciate your efforts @Omar 382 though some of your reviews and ratings are baffling to me. I think Close Encounters was wildly overrated too, but 1/2 star ? ... and The Godfather a 2/5 ? The Hateful 8 was not good Tarantino at all, either and you gave it the same rating as Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. Regardless, you definitely make this forum and the Music forum much more interesting.

I don't go to the movies often.. maybe once a month or so. Most everything these days is cgi, superheroes, cartoons and actions flicks. I don't have anything against any of those genres and I enjoy many more recent movies from each... with the exception of cartoons. Raising a couple of kids, I hit my quota for animated flicks years ago. I also have a wife who won't go to any movies of those types and even the ones I want to see I don't want to see them enough to go alone... I can wait.

A lot of the movies that might be of interest to me don't even make it to the Detroit market, aside from maybe a week, long after they've been released, at one of the area "art houses", neither of which are geographically desirable to me.

Also, TV has never been better than it is now. I'd have to watch every waking hour to watch all of the quality TV currently available on my 65" in the comfort of my home. Most of the time we go to movies these days it's just to do something to get out of the house.

This is the crux right now. 95% or the quality that is getting produced right now is on “TV”. Going to a theater is only worthwhile if it is a cinematographic masterpiece. 90-120 minutes just isn’t enough time to really get into a story anymore. 8-13 hours may be a bit much for some stories, granted, but there is a lot more guts in tv nowadays than in movies.

Thanks for the kind words Waz. I always enjoy reading your posts. Even though we're two totally different ages, I feel like me and you have a lot in common when it comes to our upbringing and interests (sports, movies, music).

I like a lot of television series too. Currently watching Taboo from FX with Tom Hardy. On the 5th episode or so out of 8. Recently finished Westworld S1 (4/5 stars), the U.S. version of The Office S1 (3.5/5 stars) and Lost S1 (3/5 stars). I'm also watching Sharp Objects on HBO.

I'm so fucking pumped for Better Call Saul to return on August 6th. I gave S1 3.5/5 stars; S2 4.5/5 stars; and S3 5/5 stars. It's my favorite current show

256 movies and not one said New Jack City?

thread fail
I actually saw NJC back in high school and loved it, but did not rate movies back then (and I obviously can't go back and retroactively rate it). But I did love that movie and Snipes' performance.

About a 3.5
That's about right after the length of time it has been out and how it's stood the test of time. I think I would have rated it higher closer to release.

I honestly think that it is one of Denzel's most overrated performances. Chewing up the screen isn't great acting. I can think of four or five Denzel films that were much better performances.

Otherwise the film was perfectly fine but nothing really notable.
