Cubs will play in the World Series within 3 years. BOOK IT!!!!!!!!!!

Madden made the WS with the Rays whose payroll is one of the lowest in the MLB so I am pretty sure he will make it with the Cubs.

The Cubs will not see a World Series in your lifetime with or without this guy.

The thing worse than the Cubs is Joe Maddon. I really hate to see that douchebag come to the NL.

Whats wrong with Maddon? He has an incredible rep, and he has won with not-much. As I mentioned in another thread, I think he is about the 3rd best manager in the game today (behind Bochy and Showwalter).

I know the Cubs are supposed to be loaded with young position players, but isn't their pitching weak? Jake Arrieta was really good last year, but that's not
enough.

Did the giants have any pitchers better than 1 really?

Sometimes you just have to realize that a franchise is legitimately cursed. It's been 106 years. I feel pretty safe in saying it's gonna take some divine intervention to get the Cubs to the WS, not Joe Maddon.

Playing half their games at their park is a big advantage over playing half at Wrigley. I also think that Vogelsong, Petit, Hudson, and Peavy are pretty serviceable, particularly in the NLW.

Surely you don't want to argue that pitching doesn't matter, since the Giants won their third WS in five years.

Wait a second you fools... In Back to The Future part 2 when Marty Mcfly went to 2015 it clearly stated the Cubs were gonna win the WS in 2015. So there you go Maddon will have the Cubs as WS winners next year.

Not really, but at the same time the Giants never went over 100 years without a World Series. And the 2010 and 2012 versions of San Francisco were pitching heavy teams.

But, most of all, I'm just happy Tim Hudson finally got a ring. Just a shame it wasn't with the Braves.

I think the Cubs need to do the right thing and invite a Billy Goat to come watch a game. It is the only way to reverse the curse.

It is just a King Kong of a monkey on their backs. Look at the Bartman incident. If Alou does not blow a gasket, the Cubs likely win that game and move on to the Series. As it was, he threw a temper tantrum and EVERYONE knew the game was lost at that point.

That comes from the weight of the history of the moment. The "curse" is self-fulfilling at that point.

This year's Giants were an oddity, to be sure, but it isn't like the playoffs this years were awash with Aces. Only the Tigers and Dodgers had multiple Aces, but neither of those teams had bullys, to the rotation was wasted (see Kershaw, Clayton).

In general, offense gets you to the dance. Pitching gets you to the hotel room.

Then how come we only won 1 WS during the 90s when we had the best Top 3 in a rotation of all time. :noidea:

I'd like to make a few lousy excuses.

During the early 90's, we were a young team, we were good enough t get there, but not good enough to win it all. The 91 WS is one of the best ever, but the more experienced team came out on top. Same with 92.

In 95 it finally all came together. We were still young enough to be full of vinegar, but experienced enough to seal the deal. After that, the Yankees dynasty happened.

Oh god, the Cubs fans are back

Tim Kurchin just said that he would be more surprised if Maddon didn't win a World Series with the Cubs than if he did.:pound:

Remember Maddon, you wanted this
