As my musical taste are pretty much polar opposite to hip hop and rap, I will spare all any real discussion of taste.
What I do want to add is this. I have no issue with rap and hip hop folks calling themselves artists. That is fine. I take issue when they try to call themselves musicians or musical acts.
To me, to be a musician, you need to actually play an instrument. Manipulating digial "ones and zeros" to make noise makes you a specialized digital magician at best, or, when taking the music someone else wrote and composed to make a new something, a rip off artist at worst.
