Wait......really? Harbaugh was going to leave Stanford in 2009 for Kansas?
Was in the running at the time. Was a real candidate. Came within an inch of it happening. It has never been disclosed why then AD Lew Perkins didn't seal the deal, but it is/was very real.

Now at Michigan, Jim Harbaugh was once very close to coaching at Kansas

Stanford had not really been turned around at that point

"It was done," a source close to the situation told CBS Sports.

Harbaugh was so interested in Kansas at that time that he left his Stanford phone behind so it wouldn't be tracked by the school. Meanwhile, he and Merle drove over to Lawrence to check out the facilities.

"He was on my radar because he was at Stanford," said Perkins, 71, now doing work for USA Boxing. "Everybody knew, though, that he wanted to go to the pros.

"He's a handful, but he can coach."

KU football went down the tubes from that failure going forward until now. They have never recovered.

Basketball school. They should disband the football program.

Would he have gone to the NFL? Yeah, just about guaranteed. I feel pretty confident he wouldn't have been one of the worst coaches I have ever seen in Turner Gill and put the program back into the toilet.

I'll respond to both quotes and it will sound rude but Kansas has
been in the toilet since 1920.

The only decade in the last 10 decades where Kansas won more
than 1/2 their games was the 60's when they won 51% of their
games.

They are 417-565-41 since 1920. 42.8 winning pct.

I know they have had some great players and some great teams,
but they've never been a good program in the last 100 years.

I'm not saying you can't hope and strive to be better and fight
to attain those goals but it really hasn't happened in the last
100 years.

I am aware of KU's history as a football program. I am also saying they have no excuses to be this bad either since 2009 or so.

But when you pull out Oklahoma and Nebraska it looks like.
372-403-32 overall.

So there's that.

Willie runs the read option. When Georgia Southern hired him from Sam Houston they told him he'd have to run the triple option or look for another job. Once he took the Tulane job he went right back to the read option.

When Tulane played Oklahoma last year I do not recall a lot of passing (I could be wrong) or at least not a lot of effective passing. Maybe they needed a better quarterback?

So, Kansas keeps firing people and nothing gets better.

Nothing new here.

It's been a decade since they were NC in basketball (6 since they made the NCG).
11 years since they finished ranked in football (10 since they finished with a winning record).
