Some teams which have future schedule OOC games with independents on Thanksgiving weekend in certain years may have to move those games around.

I want the G5 conferences to have consistency in their Thanksgiving weekend schedules just as the Power 5 conferences do. It would be nice for the mid-majors to have a specific game on Thanksgivng weekend that they look forward to every year. These games would change based on realignment.

Good post. G5 has some good rivalries, it would be cool to have them set as well.

Interesting stuff.

One point though. You have Colorado St facing Air Force. I understand they're both
in the same state, however, The Colorado State-Wyoming series is the oldest football
rivalry west of the Mississippi.

CSU/AF/Wyoming all have good rivalries with each other, can't really go wrong with any of them.

when did they move Oregon and Oregon State, Cal and Stanford, New Mexico and New Mexico State, or Arizona and Arizona state east of the Mississippi?

They do...among the locals that go to AFA games.

I just stuggle with these Academies having any meaningful rivalry outside of
playing each other.

You could put an Academy in any state and still have the same players. Their
guys don't get out all that much. CSU and Wyoming guys all know each other,
played with and/or against each other in HS, all the things that occur at other
rivalries.

It's a short bus trip for all of them, and it's a yearly affair so they do get to know
a bit about each other. I just have a hard time viewing AF as being a true rival to
anybody outside of Army and Navy.

Interesting for sure, thanks for sharing. On the surface not sure if any of these matches are big rivalries or not but should be fun matches to close out the season.

Well my father was in the air force and stationed in Wyoming, so I can tell you AFA vs Wyoming and CSU is legit. The AFA fan base in Colorado is interesting, they might be the most popular team in that state.

You're right. Colorado State versus Wyoming is a much bigger rivalry that CSU/Air Force. Those two teams hate each other. It's the biggest game of the year for both teams.

It all comes down to TV. Each conference's TV partners ideally want as many in-state rivalries on the Thanksgiving weekend schedule as possible. If CBSSN (the MWC's primary TV partner) wants Air Force-Colorado State played on the final week then their wish is the MWC's command.

For most of my life the Texas-Texas A&M game was a Thanksgiving tradition.

maybe its just the oldest interstate rivalry involving both schools being from the G5 whose colors are Green gold and brown.

Maybe.

If it was "continuous" I think they would have written that into the title.

I've always seen that CSU-Wyoming is the Oldest Interstate Rivalry west of the Mississippi
