I think Wisconsin could, or at least should still be able to make the playoff with a loss today.

They’re not going to leave out a 1-loss conference champion in favor of a 2-loss ND, a 2-loss conference champion without a much better resume (so forget about a PAC-12 team), or a second SEC or ACC team. The only exception to that, I think, is if Auburn beats Bama next week and plays Georgia in the SECCG, in which case I think both the winner of that game and Bama are in.

But it would be outside of their control, so let’s not let it come to that.

If they lost something like 23-21, they'd drop to 10th or 11th and michigan would rise to the top 15. If they lost by 2+ TDs, they'd drop out of the top 15th IMO. That said, the odds are good that Northwestern and Iowa both win out and are ranked at year's end, so it's not like they'd have no ranked wins.

If they lose to Michigan the program should be given the death penalty for playing a horrible schedule and letting Harbaugh beat them. There should be no appeal.

Convincingly will obviously help but honestly if they win out, they are in. Being left out as an undefeated P5 champ is a possibility with a schedule like Wisconsin's, but not this year

If they win out ... they are in the CFP ... no question ... no undefeated P5 team should ever be left out.

I could see it happening if it came down to an undefeated with a poor schedule (like Wisky's) and a 1 loss conference champ with a high SOS. It would have to be rather extreme

That is why there should be an eight team playoff ... there really is no advantage to play a team like Oklahoma if your going for an undefeated season. However, when it comes to an at large bid, your opponents can really matter.

Nonsense. Playing and beating Oklahoma got Ohio State in the playoffs last season. You take a chance either way. Play a cupcake schedule, lose, and you are done. Schedule a tougher OOC and a loss does not kill your chances.

I think a two loss Penn State and a one lose ohio state was more responsible.

Yes that was a reason as well. But even with the two losses of Penn State, Ohio State doesn't get in without the win against the B12 champ on their resume

The question was irrelevant since Michigan had no chance to beat the GOAT defensive team.
