Marlins. From there.

I remember being 9 years old in 1993 on spring break, spending those days at the local rec center, when my mom surprised me by taking the day off work early, picking me up, and driving us home so I could watch the Inaugural Game. A 3-2 win vs LAD.

Knuckleballer Charlie Hough started that game!

Joe Greene tossed me his stinky towel. Oh wait, that was a commercial and I root for the Giants.

Grew up in NY. (Long Island-Nassau County, & Queens)
Played little league baseball in the mid 60's..and began following the Mets and MLB around that time. Been a fan ever since. My dad used to take us to Shea for weekend games when they were in town. Never really cared for the yankees.

Dude, take a gander at your favorite teams for things that don't sense.

Literally every home state your 3 favs are from hates each other sports wise.

Georgia hates Florida
Florida hates LSU
Falcons hate the Saints

You're a walking contradiction.

played a lot a little league in my day…we were known as the Reedville Mets, had the emblem patch, stripped pants and the blue socks…had something to do with the coach coming from new york, guy had that accent as well.

great coach and good times. love looking back on all those team photos and game logs i still have.

Grew up between NYC area and DC area. I rooted for all of the NY teams when I started following sports ... Yanks, Mets, Jets, Giants, Knicks.. even the Bills. Moved to DC in 67, dad snagged Skins season tix and I became a Skins fan but I remained a fan of the NY teams in other sports. Moved to MI for good in 73 and slowly started gravitating to rooting for Detroit teams. Pre-internet it was hard to keep up with teams that weren't local. But I remained a Skins fan until, against my better judgement, I found myself rooting for the Lions during the Skins-Lions 92 NFC Championship game. I blame Barry Sanders.

Born into a big family, dad had seven brothers and one sister and I don't remember any of my uncles or any of my nearly 30 cousins who wasn't just a homer all the way with Minnesota teams. I had a little hand held radio when I was little before I got a tv and used to listen to Rod Carew, my all time favorite player and the Twins play every night when I went to bed.

I’ve got two teams I like, the Reds and Blue Jays. Cincinnati because of Eric Davis(my all time favorite player). Toronto because of the outfielders of Barfield, Bell and Moseby. Growing up in Idaho, no local teams to cheer for.

Very similar for me...no local team growing up in the central Carolinas but a lot of Sally-league affiliates, including the (at the time) Columbia Mets (now known as the Capital City Bombers). So I became somewhat interested in the parent club, but I almost never got to watch their games until the playoffs. Became a little more invested after moving here in 96...unfortunately.

Also used to love several of those late-70's and early 80's Blue Jay players, and their uniforms were the snazziest. Really enjoyed watching them beat Atlanta in 92, when I still lived down south and suddenly there were thousands of "die hard" braves fans who never existed prior to 1990. I first saw the Skydome in 1991. Some of my all-time favorite players have been Jays at some point: Tony Fernandez, John Olerud, Dave Stewart, Devon White

Simple thread, how did you start rooting for your team? I know we have some guys who root for teams that are far from where they live, others who have rooted for different teams in the past.

Me, I was born and raised 45 minutes outside of Philly in Delaware. Rooting for the Phillies was something that came automatically. Plus, I'm not a cocksucker.

You guys?

Grew up in a state with no professional teams, favorite players are KG and Barry Sanders. Sometimes I wish those guys got drafted by different teams.

I'm from Detroit and I am a Lion's fan ... Barry deserved better.

Hank Aaron

nuff said

You're a Braves fan?

Hank Aaron's end of his career stint with the Brewers drawing you in would be like an old time citing Babe Ruth as the reason for becoming a Braves fan.

Where between NYC and DC?
