expansion or relocation

I am sure the league wants expansion, but I have to have faith that they won't find anyone else stupid enough to pay half a billion for something that, if they are lucky, in ten years will be worth half that.

Florida needs to move. The conferences are unbalanced. No one goes to their games. They are a ready made success, so much young talent.

Houston getting a team would be a good thing. Got to think they get Arizona when they relocate or an expansion team should Arizona move to Seattle.

The main indicator that hockey has failed in South Florida is the number of rinks/youth participation. In 25ish years the game has not been cultivated or grabbed a foothold. It's as conclusive a failure as there is.

Carolina overall, not so good. I have a cousin who lives in Raleigh and a Sister who lives in Charlotte. Hockey doesn't really exist in Charlotte according to her, but Raleigh seems pretty robust by comparison. Admittedly, it's more adult rec hockey than kids, but it's not completely dead.

Florida has twice the population of NC. Wonder how the percentages work out.

Arizona is the "fastest growing" district in USA Hockey. They had 3,000 last year.

Texas already has 14k players. That's pretty decent.

Florida also has a successful team on the Gulf Coast.

I actually asked one of the national guys from USA hockey if they ever broke down by location inside states (they don't). I was curious specifically about Cleveland vs Columbus. But I would be just as interested in Tampa vs Miami. I'd bet 3/4ths of Florida's players are in the Tampa Area.

Hell LA/ANA vs San Jose too.
