Hoskins is totally blocked by Joseph. Too bad, he walks a lot less and gets on base more. A September call up would mean an occasional start. But that would be detrimental to his development.

I think he's fully developed and deserves a job now.
Can not happen now. That would send the wrong message to joseph. Maybe by the trade deadline the Phillies
will make a decision. The one advantage Hoskins has is that he is a better defensive player.

When are the Phillies going to get the best players onto the roster and get rid of the non-productive/failed experiments?

I know what you mean. We can't obviously have two good guys at first so Hoskins will have to hang loose and be ready if Joseph stubs his toe. It's a long season.

The team is really changing for the better especially with the starting pitching, Franco still developing, arrival of Williams, Altherr, then Hoskins and Kingery on the way. In my fantasy world, I want the team to be there NOW. I have to remind myself, we just need to take a little more torture for the immediate future. :faint:

I have been working a lot and I just haven't watched much of this season. Too disappointing I suppose.

LHV winning big tonight. Crawford 4 for 5 with a pair of 2-run homers; Cozens hits 19th.

Well the Phillies said that everyone is avalible for a trade.

I hope that Joseph is moved, or in a worse case scenario next spring training he loses the starting job.

I feel that way about Franco as well.

Well maybe the FO will get a clue and put MacKinin out to pasture, Frizzle along with some of these dumpster-dived wastes of roster spots calling themselves players.

I keep saying Franco will get better, and now think he'll have a great second half. Too early to give up. But it may be more realistic to think he's another Dom Brown, a lot of raw talent but no consistency. Stairs is getting no where with Maikel. Only possibility on the farm, Mitch Walding, REA, .247/.341, 20 HR, last 10, .394, 4 HR. Or the free agent route for next year. It will be entertaining.

Franco will never hit for average. I am convinced. He is not good at taking instructions.

Retro, I believe that this is the last season for this poor excuse of a manager. I believe the only reason why he received the extension was the FO attempting to give him some leverage against the young players and stop losing. However, the FO failed to realize that many on the current roster are not MLB material.

Here are some Managers who might be available this off season (combo of on the hot seat or end of contracts).

Clint Hurdle - Pittsburgh Pirates
Bryan Price - Cincinnati Reds
Mike Scioscia - Los Angeles Angels
Paul Molitor - Minnesota Twins
Joe Girardi - New York Yankees
Terry Collins - New York Mets
John Farrell - Boston Red Sox

I wouldn't mind stealing Girardi or Collins.

Just heard this morning that Kingery may not be making the team this year and we should in fact see him next spring. Mainly about keeping control of Kingery till 2024.

A new manager won't change the Phillies poor record. Isn't GM Klentak responsible for shaping the team, with I suppose, some input from Mackanin? They postpone bringing guys up in favor of dumpster diving for the worn out and undeserving. With two OF positions available in April, why not bring up a Williams or even a Cozens rather than the risky, low OBP Saunders? Fans would rather watch young guys getting acclimated and struggling to improve rather than spent guys trying to hang on.

Joseph is good off the bench. It's the best time to bring up Hoskins. A couple of months ML experience seeing this level of pitching puts the team further ahead of schedule because they're going to do it next year anyway. The good, young starting pitching needs better hitting so they don't see their efforts in effect, wasted.
