I will say they gave him a ridiculous contract for a closer. It looks like 53 million over the next 3 seasons. Blaming the team for Bumgarner getting injured is pretty goofy though.

You never throw your ace out there on the last day of camp with nothing on the line. Without Bumgarner and Samardzija for the first two months of the season and another lost season by the closer who couldn't even make it healthy out of camp will have the Giants out of the race by May.

I guess you could say that Cueto is not a 1 but a 1 A. Depends on whether we get the 2016 Cueto or the 2017 Cueto. But you can't get it done with only one quality starter even if he pitches like Cy Young. The Giants are in big trouble.
