They wouldn't trade him in the division I'm sure. That would cost alot plus he may leave by next year as a FA. He's a little overrated imo, I'd actually rather have Smardjia for less.

smardjia is a poor man garza . i remember jay tibbs come on the scene won 6 or 7 in a row then nothing .

Speaking of Hammel and Arrieta... you would expect their ERA to drop by going to the NL, but not by that much. (In the case of Hammel, you could argue that luck is a factor given the 0.225 BABIP... but Arrieta actually has a BABIP of 0.365 over his five starts, which suggests that his ERA could have been even lower under "normal" circumstances.)

Do we blame it on the pitching coaches or what?

Sometimes people just need a fresh start somewhere else. I think it's great that they're having success over there. It'll take a full season (or more) for me to decide if it's really the coaching over there as opposed to over here.
