Oklahoma is winning because they are scared to take on Alabama in the consolation semi-finals.

I have taken pity and also voted for them.

Huh? Oklahoma is 3-1-1 all time vs Alabama.

Moving on Oklahoma is 45-38-3 vs Nebraska

Oklahoma has more National Titles, Conference Titles, Heismans, and All Americans.

I like Nebraska but this should be pretty cut and dry.

Maybe we'll be able to get up for the consolation game this time. :noidea:

Actually Nebraska has more conference titles. Otherwise, however, the same was true of Ohio State against Nebraska (among many other things Ohio State leads in), yet the Hoop decided to move Nebraska on to the next round, so it's not necessarily a given.

It was a joke because I knew it wasn't going to be close.

Oklahoma wins this one pretty easily. Then again Ohio State should have beaten Nebraska so who knows. :noidea:

In keeping with the Big 10/Notre Dame mantra of "storied" meaning the days before air conditioning, before people had radios in their homes, when ice was delivered to your house to keep your food from spoiling....

From 1912 (1st meeting) to 1940 Nebraska went 14-3-3 against Oklahoma.
Nebraska vs Oklahoma 1869-1940

In that period (overall)

Nebraska went 171-52-20
Oklahoma went 146-82-28

Undefeated seasons prior to 1940

Nebraska (5) - 1902 (10-0), 1903 (11-0), 1913 (8-0), 1914 (7-0-1), 1915 (8-0),
Oklahoma (3) - 1915 (10-0), 1918 (6-0), 1920 (6-0-1)

One loss seasons prior to 1940

Nebraska (12) - 1900 (7-1-2), 1910 (7-1), 1911 (5-1-2), 1912 (7-1), 1921 (7-1), 1922 (7-1), 1928 (7-1-1), 1929 (4-1-3), 1932 (7-1-1), 1933 (8-1), 1937 (6-1-2), 1939 (7-1-1)

Oklahoma (2) - 1914 (9-1-1), 1938 (10-1)

Nebraska started playing football in 1890 (our nail is rustier)
Oklahoma started playing football in 1895

To be honest, in looking at it, the seedings for this entire tournament are pretty wrong. ND should be 1, with Ohio State at 2. OSU destroys Oklahoma in the metrics, at 8-4, and by mid-October, after being the AP #1 for 7 weeks, they'll be beating them 9-3. They also own Nebraska 8-4.

It really depends on which era you give the most weight. Nebraska stank it up from about 1940-1960. In that time Oklahoma was on a terror.

From 1960 - present, Oklahoma leads the series (26-21), and has 4 NC's to Nebraska's 5.

Oklahoma won 3 NC's in the 1950's - 1950, 1955, 1956

Nebraska owned Oklahoma pre-1940
Oklahoma owned Nebraska from 1940-1960 (16-5)
Pretty even from 1960 to present.

I give weight to Oklahoma's stretch from 1940 - 1960 as they were more modern than pre-1940.

As I pointed out.

Oklahoma in the 50's is what takes this. It was a great decade for them.

As I write this

Two Nebraskans voted Oklahoma
One voted Nebraska

For me, Oklahoma is a more storied program, hence my vote for Oklahoma.
