I almost hope one gets in while the other doesn’t just so writers will be ridiculed mercilessly.

There is no possible reason to split your vote on those two. If PEDs are forgiven, they are both inner-circle HOFers. If PEDs is expulsion-worthy, than neither should be in. Period.

There are arguments for and against McGwire.

There are arguments for and against Palmeiro.

There are arguments for and against Sosa, Ramirez, Sheffield, etc.

These two are cut and dry.

Nope.

Jon Heyman voted Bonds and not Clemens while Sadiel Lebron and Jose De Jesus Ortiz both voted for Clemens and not Bonds.

Got it, I saw one net vote Clemens got over Bonds and that explains it.

They already let a PED guy get in with Bagwell. The dam should be broken at this point.

The only reason that these two are being held out at this point is that they both are such unlikable guys.

Bagwell used a PED before it was banned. But hey, let's not act like there's amphetamine users in the HOF.

Mussina isn't making the cut this year and Thome/Guerrero are guaranteed to get voted in this year. Hoffman is also a likely candidate as he missed the cut by 5 votes last year, and has already netted 9 new votes plus 8/9 new voters.

And Edgar has a really good shot this year as well.

Think we see 5 or 6 guys get in the Hall this year (Chipper, Thome, Vlad, Edgar, Hoffman and possibly Mussina). Will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

Mussina's likely going to fall short, because it generally seems like the old school voters are less likely to make their ballots public early on (whereas Mussina's a favorite among the sabermetric-friendly voters, many of whom have already disclosed their ballots).

My guess is that we end up seeing Mussina in the low 60% area when the final results are released (which would be a good 10 point increase from last year's 52%).

I can't stand Mussina. But he should get in.

Mussina isn't getting in. I think it's 4 or 5 this year. Edgar being the one I think is shaky. Hoffman fell just 5 votes short last year and has gained enough new voters this year that as long as he doesn't lose a bunch in the late voters, he's in.

If Edgar misses this year, he should get in next year in his final ballot. That's what I predicted to happen before the votes started coming in, and now I think it's a certainty. Rivera, Halladay, and Edgar will be the class of 2019 if he doesn't get in this year. Then I think Mussina gets in with Jeter in 2020.

I am surprised Rolen only has 10% . I guess he had too many injury shortened seasons so he didn't get many MVP votes or something?
