Next years schedule lines up as follows. What's in parenthesis is their record from this past season. * = playoff/bowl eligible
Vs. Illinois St (13-2 or 14-1 -- FCS runner-up or champion) *
@ Iowa St (2-10)
Vs. Pitt (6-7)*
Vs. North Texas (4-8)
@ Wisconsin (11-3)*
Vs. Illinois (6-7)*
@ Northwestern (5-7)
Vs. Maryland (7-6)*
@ Indiana (4-8)
Vs. Minnesota (8-5)*
Vs. Purdue (3-9)
@ Nebraska (9-4)*
It is shaping up to be a tough schedule given the state of the Iowa program. Winning 6 games might be tough to accomplish next year with the seniors leaving and new starters at several positions:
- 7 games against teams with losing records
- 7 games against bowl eligible/playoff teams
- McCarney's coming to town with a QB and WR that are from Iowa City
I wouldn't be surprised if Iowa wins 5 games next year. I wouldn't be surprised if Iowa wins 8 games next year.
