Has there been any signs that the Lakers really want Lonzo?

We all know he wants to go there, but, has there been any signs from the Lakers that they will take him if he is available with their pick?

I am just asking. I follow hoops but not as closely as the NFL, but I have not seen or heard anything pointing in that direction.

Is it all just conjecture? I may have missed something during sports updates.

Haven't heard anything.

Magic did go and watch Ball -- when they played Ky in the NCAAs and Fox played well.

I don't think anyone in the organisation is ever going to say "We're definitely going with so-and-so player", but his name has come up a few times and Lonzo, along with two or three other players are getting worked out but the team soon.

I hope the Lakers give D'Angelo a chance. No need to draft Ball really.

If the Lakers get Lonzo, D'Angelo will play the 2. Luke started him there for much of the latter part of the season and he played well. He seemed to thrive without the pressure of having to try and make plays for other guys as well as for himself.

Hard to see how Ball and Russell could ever be in the same back court together.

Ball is a pass first point guard. Russell is a score first guard.

Let's see...A guy who likes to pass playing with a guy who likes to score.

Nope, no way that works out. lol

But how does Russell like to score though? The ball is going to be in Ball's hands the majority of the time. I know Russell is a good enough shooter, but can he play well off the ball?

Not that I have inside knowledge or anything...but they interviewed Magic at a Ucla game, and he raved about Lonzo's leadership, and how he's turned LA back on into UCLA basketball. From there Lonzo hit a crazy step back 3 game winner to seal that game, and I've been convinced ever since that Magic wouldn't pass on him if he got the chance to take him. As it stands now, I still feel that there is no way that we pass on Ball. I'd like to see Lonzo improve on his defense however

Russell was improving down the stretch last season playing the 2 opposite Clarkson (after the trade and the vets were benched), averaging 20/5

Magic was also at the game where Ball got schooled by Fox.

And neither are very good defenders. Especially against quick slashing guards like a Kemba Walker or Westbrook.

A good write up here...

Defense would definitely be a problem, but defense can be learned. Their ability to play together on the offensive end would likely be no problem.

The Lakers would definitely have to play some serious team defense until those 2 learned to play NBA quality defense.

I wouldn't do it personally. I'd rather run the risk of letting the Pacers trade him elsewhere, and then see what we can do in FA. Also, I don't want George to get to LA, have a mediocre season this year, and get the chance to think that this whole coming home thing may be overrated

That's what he did most of the latter part of the season. He's not an iso type of player. They had Clarkson running the point with Russell playing off the ball and it looked really good most of the time.

He actually played more free without having the ball in his hands all of the time. There were times toward the end of the season when we saw flashes of how the Warriors play, which is pretty much exactly what Luke wants.
