Harbaugh's 2016 receiving class is a disaster

I know that every big program has a few 4* and 5* players that just don't pan out, but it really hurts when your entire class at one position fizzles out, and leaves the program. I think Wheatley was a 4* guy as well IIRC. I think Michigan should still be solid at the receiving positions this year though. I like Gentry, McKeon, Black, Peoples-Jones, and Perry. Hopefully we have another guy or two that can step up big when injuries eventually happen.

One of the recruiting guys on 247 said that the average attrition for any class at this point in their career is about 18-20%. The 2016 class is at 27%. The TE's & WR's were particularly hit hard. That class isn't a bust by any means -- hell, a significant portion of our starting defense comes from that class; including basically our entire secondary.

I think what we're seeing is that the 2017 class was better and some of the kids from that previous class got buried by the 2017 class. The WR's in the 2017 class were significantly higher ranked than the 2015 class. So losing some of those guys, in a weird way, almost makes sense. Tarik Black and DPJ took those spots over last year and guys like 3* McDoom got buried by younger guys.

Disaster is Michigan State’s 2015 class.

Yeah, not a great class at all. But not much can be expected from a 14 person class that Harbaugh had two weeks to piece together after Hoke left in a PR disaster at the end of that season. There's some workable pieces on there, like Higdon and Gentry, but damn if it's not filled with nobodies otherwise. We needed like 4 more offensive lineman in that class.

Bringing in a guy named McDoom should have been foreshadowing.

I loved McDoom -- he was a fan favorite. His only real use was like 1-2 reverses in the game and every time it happened the entire stadium would go "McDOOOOOOM". He's one I'm actually sad to see go.

I would say add QB class to the list as well.

We need to give them another 5-7 years to develop and then we can fully evaluate Harbaugh.

What is 5 to 7 years when compared to a life time contract. Harbaugh should coach at least another 30 to 40 years.

Aw, yes..... “The Butch Jones” equation.
