Totally agree. Montana was a solid system QB. Out of that system he was pedestrian at best.
He benefitted from working with the greatest receiver of all time. Rice also elevated Young and then Gannon when he went to Oakland. People also seem to forget how good that niners Defense was.

Montana was A product of Jerry Rice Montana was lost when he went to KC while Steve Young went from back up QB to Elite QB

Montana was @ the end of his career when he got to KC. Also Montana won rings ('81 & '84) before Rice even got to SF ('85).

Everything about that team was great! It all just seemed to come together. The only player who I can think of whose performance fell off a cliff was Joe Montana the second Jerry Rice and that OL were no more.

IMO thats like saying Aikman won the cowboys super bowls. Both QB's success came as the result of great teams around them. And coaches that ran solid systems

Can't argue w/ that. Always liked watching him play, he could hit like a freight train. Remember when he stopped Icky Woods in his tracks in the SB?

That's what safetys do. It just happens to be real cool to come up with colorful descriptions of how Ronnie Lott did it.

He gave quite A few offensive players nightmares. The guy made players think when they entered his zone

It was strange as hell to see him in a Jets uni @ the end of his career. Shit, I forgot he played 2 years for the Raiders.

I'm more concerned about what happened at Florida. Shit that Florida fans are still angry and embarrassed about but Ohio State fans keep excusing.

@JuiceTheGator has already stated his peace on that.

I'm positive that Columbus law enforcement won't bow to Urban Meyer misconduct and "vouching" like Gainesville officials did.

Nah....I have a lot more to say about it. A couple more years should do it.

The two most nutty in CFB are right next door to each other. I wonder which breaks first?

I have no idea but it's going to be like watching a fatal car wreck when it happens! You know you shouldn't look but no force on earth can stop you because it's so fascinating!
