Bengals are doing a countdown of the top 50 Bengals of all time on their website. Top 10 comes out tomorrow. You can review 50-11 and guess your top 10 and the order you think they will come in.

(They are retired Bengals only)

My Guess is going to be:

1. Anthony Munoz OT
2. Ken Anderson QB
3. Isaac Curtis WR
4. Boomer Esiason QB
5. Chad Johnson WR
6. Tim Krumrie DT
7. David Fulcher SS
8. James Brooks HB
9. Jim Breech K
10. Cris Collinsworth WR

I was wondering if someone was going to post about this! Bengals.com has been running this whole thing and we haven't had one smartass thing to say. What's happened to this board!?

BTW - I think you have the players nailed.... Though I'm not sure why Breech is a top 10 guy. Is there anyone else missing from the early rankings that could presumably be in the top 10?

I had him in the top 10 because he is the Bengals all-time scoring leader. That is honestly the only reason.

Honestly, I can't think of any one else. Then again, if it is, it would definitely be before my time and doesn't get much love from the media or fans.

I had originally thought of John Thornton, but then said no way would he be a top 10, maybe a 30-50 type guy, and since he was not there, I eliminated him. Only other one I can think of would be Paul Brown, but he was not a player, and then Sam Wyche should have been in there at that point. Peter Warrick crossed my mind, but I eliminated him pretty quickly for a top 10 player because of his injury plagued career.

Thought the overall list was solid.

Surprised that neither Darnay Scott or Steve Fracis made the list, though.

I think it's important to remember that the top 50 list was all fan voted. Right? If Dillon wasn't such an ass while he was here, he would definitely be top 10. It's pretty amazing how good he was given how many crappy qbs he had to deal with.

I would have listed Dillon as a top 10 in place of Collinsworth, personally. Probably #5 on the list and moved everyone else down 1.

I agree. I think Collinsworth would even say he's overrated by the fans. He was a really good receiver and gave that SB team an important piece in their run, but his career was really derailed by nagging injuries.

Breech is also completely overrated by fans.

Fulcher is probably a little overrated in this list as well.... Though, I was surprised to see that he had more interceptions than I remember.

The fact Corey Dillon didn't make the top 10 makes the list a joke. That dude kicked ass for years. One some of the worst teams I've ever watched. This wasn't during the pass happy, no defense era we play in now. Teams knew Dillon was getting the ball and stacked the box every play. He still performed.

agreed. didn't like his interviews or that he hated being here, but in hindsight he was probably right.

I can see arguments for both sides.

Dillon certainly had a lot of things going against him, and still was a top tier RB in the NFL despite guys like Mitchell, Smith, and others being his QB. Imagine him with Palmer and Johnson taking 8-9 out of the box.

However, Brooks was a more complete back, and yes his numbers may not compare, but you have to remember that he split a lot of carries with Icky. His pass-catching and blocking were far superior to Dillon's, and it's hard to rule out that he would have been the better teammate to have.

No doubt that Dillon could have put up a lot of 1400-1600 yard seasons with an Offense like the late 80's Bengals around him, but Brooks in a featured role like Dillon got would have always racked up more total yardage with his pass catching ability and blocking always leaving him on the field.

Also, it was 50% fan, 50% media voted on the poll. Lapham was quoted as stating that a reason that Boomer didn't rank higher was because some media members polled were so annoyed when Boomer was here that they left him off the list completely. Just a rumor, but you would have thought Boomer would have rated higher, or maybe it's just me.
