Just watched an episode of Bar Rescue where they rescued a bar that made biscuits and gravy. They made a gravy for the biscuits and gravy and chicken fried steak sandwich and gravy that had sauteed onions.
It got me thinking. Does anyone have a gravy recipe that's different than just your normal white gravy?

I'll brown a lb. of Jimmy Dean and cheat a bit. I usually make about 4 cups worth. I do add milk, flour and a bit of corn starch, but I throw in one of these to work from.....

I use a mix a lot of times when I'm in a hurry. Add a little garlic powder.

what kind of gravy do you have in mind? The best ones usually involve pan drippings which add SO much flavor

White gravy. Like for biscuits and gravy or chicken fried steak and gravy.

Thread not worthy unless the KFC recipe is included.

There are SO many versions of the KFC gravy recipe, not sure what the real on actually is to share with you...

Thank you sir. That's pretty much the one my mom taught me to make minus sausage grease. I am looking for the one I saw on Bar Rescue.

I haven't seen that episode so I'm not sure what they did, what made it so special?

Thanks.......my grandma died a while back but this thread brought her to mind since she cooked like all the time and was amazing at it.

Sorry to hear about your loss. However, you'll always have those special memories. Those are priceless.

Oh yeah, like I mentioned earlier, pan drippings add SO much flavor to a gravy... :suds:
I agree. You can add as many herbs or spices that you want, but it's all about the pan drippings! Seems like whenever someone doesn't use 'em, I always pick up that raw flour taste. I sometimes have trouble making white gravy because I go too dark with the roux- I want zero trace of that flour taste :puke:
