At a job interview I was asked if I spoke Spanish. My reply was "I am from Alabama so I barely speak English". The interviewing panel erupted in laughter and offered me the job a week later.

I would make the argument that Hawaii is a lot closer to a Southern state than any Yankee state.

A preference for questionable meat products....check

Breakfast food covered in gravy....check

The plate lunch is an institution...check

Pork is treated as a major food group...check

You can wear flip flops all year long...check

Personally, I can count the number of days I have been without flip-flops on one hand...3 weddings, 1 funeral.

...and I would eat pigs even if they could talk.

Did I mention that wild pig hunting is hugely popular in Hawaii...hmmm, I wonder what other region of the country has that as a popular outdoor activity?

Well I wouldn't move to Ohio from Hawaii either. Too cold. One reason I left. Flip flops are really low class in public. Don't own shorts or flip flops. Pig is fine. I've eaten that in Hawaii.

I wear a bathing suit. Yes I have beach shoes, not flip flops. Easier for me in the ocean to wear beach shoes.

Beach shoes are sold in a lot of outdoor shops particularly in the Caribbean. They're good for walking over rocks and other objects in the ocean. They also don't fall off your feet when walking in the sand.

I'm from a different generation than you guys.
