How big is the infield at BMS? Does a football field fit nicely in there or is it gunna be tiny?

It's going to look small compared to what we're used to. Remember highschool football usually had a 1/4 mile track, while this is a 1/2 highway loop.

If you've every been to Miami Dolphins stadium, those seats are noticeably far from the sidelines too. It's annoying but still possible to watch a game. The pitch of the stands at BMS are steep, so I think it'll be ok. End zones will suck though.

They will likely add bleachers around the field as well to bump it up to the 160,000 since the track seats 150,000 I believe. You will be a little ways away from the game in the upper sections but it will be pretty cool

I heard that too, but if those bleachers have enough height to allow people in them to see, wouldn't they block the view of those in the regular stands behind them? Not sure how they make it work, but even just 150k would be sweet.

Virginia Tech, Ohio State announce Labor Day matchup in 2015
BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech and Ohio State have agreed to move the return game of their football home-and-home series in 2015 to Labor Day Monday night, Sept. 7, the two schools announced Wednesday. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN as part of its agreement with the Atlantic Coast Conference and will be played at Lane Stadium. The game was originally scheduled for Sept. 26 of that same year.

In making that move, two other games were moved: Tech’s home game against Furman has moved from Sept. 19 to Sept. 12, 2015 and Tech’s game at East Carolina was moved from Sept. 12 to Sept. 19, 2015.

Tech and OSU will meet next season on Sept. 20 in Columbus, Ohio.

The Hokies hosted Georgia Tech on Labor Day Night last year, beating the Yellow Jackets in overtime to open the season and fell to Boise State in the 2010 Labor Day matchup at FedExField.

Why is it always so critical to have these games so early in the season?

VT is a team that gets significantly better after a few games.

True, but tOSU will most likely be breaking in a new QB. If that's the case, I like our chances earlier in the year. Primetime game in Blacksburg probably isn't where you want to get the first snaps of your career.

Well, I suppose we have to give Weaver credit for coming through on this one. He said he'd get a better opponent for 2016 than Wisconsin, and he managed to do that.

I don't know, I think Wisky has a little more going for them right now than Tennessee. I'd still rather see a home and home series scheduled with some SEC schools, but it looks like VT's schedule is now booked with B1G for the next decade. I am interested to hear what VT and Tennessee will be making off of this BMS game....wouldn't surprise me if it isn't a fair shake.

The game is good PR for both teams, and they should both get a good (and the same) payout IMHO. It's a good match, and I'm just surprised they didn't do it sooner.

Why wouldn't it be a fair shake?? I would hope that Weaver/VT, Tennessee, and BMS has already had some preliminary talks about this. Assuming that there is an equal allotment of tickets and that both sides sell their allotment out, I think the payout should be the same.

assuming we play ND in 2018, we still have OOC slots to fill for 2015 and 2017. Maybe Weaver can find a top-tier opponent that would be willing to schedule a home-home with us for 2015 and 2017, and that's certainly what I'm hoping for, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Short of that, I would not be surprised to see us in the Chik-fil-a kickoff game in 2017 (it will have been a while, and with no other top-tier teams on the OOC schedule we should be amenable). Obviously can't do that in 2015 since we're opening with tOSU. Filling that 2015 slot could be tricky.
