Yeah...

I am still scratching my head on how the fuck you let Wisky get away without a GUARANTEE of another big time opponent to replace them. I am cautiously optimistic that Weaver might fix this screw-up..but ultimately think we will end up playing "directional" Michigan or some other scrub...

I gotta believe he has at least a gentleman's agreement, but he really should have more than that.

Still, he has managed to schedule some good opponents, just not as consistently as we like.

Has this been confirmed? I haven't seen anything but speculation elsewhere. Even regarding the year the game will be played.

Man, I am really looking forward to getting VPI back on the schedule. Luck took us to a league we do not belong in, playing teams I care nothing about. I want to play teams near us, could give two shits about playing TT and Baylor, get back to VPI, sPitt, BC, PSU, hell, even Rutgers and Temple.:gaah:

Look forward to playing you guys again for sure. I hope it becomes a heated but healthy rivalry that sticks.

So 2016 will have Tennessee, Notre Dame and ECU. Sweet. Tough OOC schedule.

Great news on the VT/Vol matchup at BMS!! Been a long time in the makings. This is big news on the recruiting front as well IMO. Players will want to play in a historic game like this.

I will be very interested to see what the plans are logistically and in terms of what they are going to do with the field/seating.

I think I am gonna have to try and go to this one. When the game date is announced it will be a mad dash for hotel rooms within 100 miles of the place.

This is like the Holy Grail of Tech OOC games. It's too good to be true.

How big is the infield at BMS? Does a football field fit nicely in there or is it gunna be tiny?

From Wikipedia:
"In 1961, the track hosted a National Football League preseason game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins.[11] In 2005, track owner Bruton Smith made a public offer of $20 million apiece to the University of Tennessee (UT) and Virginia Tech to schedule a non-conference college football game between the powerhouse Vols and Hokies' programs. Smith suggested that grass could be grown in the infield section of the racetrack. Virginia Tech showed much interest and nearly agreed to the proposal, but UT, on the other hand, showed little or no interest and in fact avoided the offer which made this possibility ultimately fall by the wayside.[12]

Organizers hoped that a game would draw 150,000 spectators, which would break all previous American team sports records for attendance. The track's location near the Virginia/Tennessee state line puts BMS about 125 miles (201 km) from Tech's campus in Blacksburg, Virginia and about 110 miles (180 km) from the UT campus in Knoxville, Tennessee. However, holding a football game at the site would now seem highly impractical following the recent construction of the aforementioned scoring pylon and four-sided video screen in the middle of the infield.

But as recent as October 9, 2013, both schools Virginia Tech Hokies' and the Tennessee Vols have agreed to have the football game in 2016."
