I've ranted on this a few times this fall. It wasn't until December that the university hired a president. No one wanted to hire an AD on their way out. No excuses, it's a fucking clown show, but that's why it's taken this long to get to this point.

I think Bama hiring Greg Byrne out of nowhere made UTenn feel like they're under the gun to hire somebody sooner than later and will probably end up with a turd like Fat Phil on account of it....... which is nice.

I only found out Battle was stepping down(although it's no surprise, he was short-term from the start) because of this guy being hired.

I don't know how Battle's health is, but if I were Tennessee I'd be knocking his door down right about now even if it was only long enough to find a replacement for himself.

Battles has been battling cancer en sech so I'm not real sure if he's planning on working at all right now. If he is, however, I completely agree with you. He did a fine job at Bama in the 4 years he's been there.
