I can't imagine that Frieri keeps the closer job after his last few outings.

2 weeks ago, I had 5 closers on my team, but after trading 2 of them for some offense and losing both Wilhelmsen and Frieri (potentially), I am down to 1. I have a nice cushion in the save category, but that will evaporate quickly if a rival beats me to Frieri's replacement.

I have Dane De La Rosa, who I added speculatively last week. Anybody have any insight on this bullpen?

I'd guess you're stashing the right guy.
But it's a guess.

Thanks.

Things are crazy tight with 5 teams in contention. Every point is going to be vital.

Yeah, he looks like the guy to take. Suddenly, Scott Downs isn't looking so bad...

Always tough to find to saves off the scrap heap in the league I play in. Yesterday I added Danny Farquhar, who has saved a couple for the M's the past few days. I thought that might be a lucky get. Maybe he's available in your league.

I also just grabbed him when Bobby Parnell went down. Lucky for me, Parnell is/was no world beater, so I don't lose all that much in the VORP department. (value over replacement player)

If you're chasing saves, Farquhar and Josh Fields are worth a shot. Aardsma and LaTroy Hawkins are the guys for the Mets but neither really excites me.

Was about to ask if you picked him up tlance.

As did I. I however think parnell is a pretty solid closer. He can throw in the upper 90's if need be, he just doesn't get as many opportunities as the "top" closers b/c his team is shat.

Well, that might have been. However, I am staring to hear rumblings that his neck issue may cause him to shut it down for the year.

From Rotoworld:

Astros optioned RHP Jose Cisnero to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Cisnero was discussed as a potential replacement at closer for Jose Veras, but he has really struggled recently, posting a 12.38 ERA over his last 10 appearances. Josh Fields is the favorite for save chances at this point.

Fields is probably a long shot, but so was Veras, and he turned out to be pretty handy...

Thanks guys.

Lord Farquhar is owned, as is Fields.

Hawkins is the only guy available, so I might grab him, but that would mean dropping either Frieri or De La Rosa.

I am 3rd out of 13 teams in saves and up by 18 on 4th place, and he has 3 mediocre closers (1 s Gregg who still might be traded). I never had a chance to catch the top 2. Worst case, I lose 2 points, probably 1 and possibly 0. Fields and Frieri would cost me more than that in ERA and WHIP.

And of course Fields gets blown up by the Sox...

I would not touch that guy personally.

As for Fargusvoeriuvhar, when he got his first save, I was looking at him, but I quickly dismissed him because of his unsightly ratios. Had I looked closer and seen how well he has done lately, I would have been all over him. Oh well.

Dropped Fields, picked up De Le Rosa just to see if lightning strikes. What's his deal, anyway? I really know nothing about him. From what i've read, it's between him and another guy (Coleman?) if Frieri takes a fall.

He is nothing special. 95 MPH heater, doesn't walk a ton. His ratios are average with about a K per inning.

He isn't great, but he won't singlehandedly crush your ERA/WHIP either.
