Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell is apparently prepared to play hardball with his current team as he seeks a new long-term contract this offseason.

According to ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler, Bell said Thursday he "would definitely consider" sitting out the 2018 season or retiring if the Steelers use the franchise tag on him for a second straight season.

Never been an advocate of spending big in FA to get a back, and the draft is loaded with guys who I think could really help us, but if Kirk could sign a LTD and convince his college buddy to come join us, it wouldn't hurt my feelings.

wouldnt that be a coupe ? but if you are the steelers you cant let bell walk

I will admit....swiped this idea from Keim, but this is the guy we need opposite Doctson. This is the kind of guy Kirk was referring to in his presser. Probably cost about 2/3 of what it would take to get Landry.

We need a deep threat and 50/50 jump balls don't count.

No way Bell retires. Steelers own his rights so, go ahead and retire, he will be back when the money runs out.

Football 101 - many slot guys are small guys because ..... they can get off the line of scrimmage. Not all but many little guys get manhandled and have a hard time getting into their route which really hurts if it is a timing route.

Saying you don't understand why their is an obsession with catch totals for a WR has to be one of the most hilarious statements I have ever heard. No offense but what are WRs supposed to do?? It's like saying what is the obsession with TD passes by a QB or sacks by a DE.

Sure sometimes small wrs play the slot. Sometimes they don't. I'd argue the 2 best WRs in the NFL are smaller receivers.

No it's not like saying those things. It's like saying that about pass completions or carries. The value comes from the yards and touchdowns.

Obviously as GK said, there is a correlation between catches and talent at WR. I just think it's a little weird to use exclusively when you could look at yards and TDs.

True but they're much less relevant a stat on their own than pretty much any other receiver stat.

Totally disagree.

Josh Doctson had 6 TDs.
Jarvis Landry had 112 catches.
Julio Jones only had 3TDs.

Sammy Watkins, Nelson Agholar, and Devin Funchess all had 8 TDs, ranked 8th in the NFL. You will never hear their names mentioned among the top WRs.

I mean I think it would be pretty dumb to exclusively look at TDs too, what's your point?

In post 73 you stated receptions are pretty much the least relevant stat to look at alone. Earlier you touted yards and TDs. Be consistent.

I never said either of those things. I am sure you don't remember but I commented on your boy Sammy only having 39 catches but 8 TDs. You were the one saying why are catches important.

I also mentioned Doctson had 6 in his limited time so not so much different.
