I know it would be silly to think there were any academic considerations here, but it seems to me that going to Duke as a graduate student is a much better deal than going to La. Tech. I guess it depends on his field of study and going to Duke would probably require a bigger commitment of time for the academic department. A lot of people would give up a lot for the chance to get a graduate degree from Duke.

I agree. That degree from Duke opens a lot of doors. Obviously we don’t know his situation, but on the surface it doesn’t seem like a wise move. And if he plans on playing football there, he should spend some time this winter throwing a football thru a tire swing in the backyard. Sumbitch can’t hit the side of a barn.

He is going to La Tech for one semester. He ain't going for academics.

He is going to a conference that does not have any defenses in it to showcase his arm so that he might get drafted. Being drafted in the NFL and having a draft pick contract is better than any job he can get.

Smart career move if it works out. If not, then he has to get a real job.

He just stares at one receiver and then throws to him no matter what the coverage. That would seem to indicate a mental deficiency.

The University of Florida is an impeccable institution.

He already has a degree from a fine school. It might not be Duke, buts its a great school.

One year at Duke is unlikely enough time to finish a graduate degree....

It is tough to finish a masters degree in only 1 year under normal circumstances yet alone having the demands of a football obligation.

So he is stuck paying 50,000/year to finish it next year if that degree matters.

Jeff Driskel did not develop into the quarterback we all hoped he would be; partly because Florida seems to do better with a spread offence and partly because of his own lack of growth in physical and football intelligence. Nice guy and I'm sure all Florida folks wish him well.

I have to believe that as a former OC at Duke, Coach Roper, talked to HC at Duke, David Cutcliffe , about his situation. Driskell had entered his paperwork for the transfer to Duke already. I don't believe the issue was his intelligence or his academics, etc. This just may not have been the best fit for him. Sometimes that happens.

It's just so stupid you are not going to go pro and they were not going to strip your scholly just stay put get your degree and be successful in something else. It makes no sense to transfer IMO.

I guess his love of the game outweighs logic in this situation

That's what I was thinking. I forgot his major but know Drizcal has a high GPA. Just finish up and move on.

As fucked-up as UF's offense has been, I feel bad for the kid because you know he didn't have proper development handling. He's probably getting bad career advice on top of that.

He seems to be a smart guy and a Master's or PHD from Vandy or Duke would serve him well. I'm not sure if there is a football future for him....maybe there is.

last i knew on the whole graduate transfer rules is that you are supposedly transferring because your current school doesnt have the graduate program your new school does.
