His brother isn't going to be around to save his ass this time. He fvks up this season and dollars to doughnuts Riley is going to kick his loud mouth ass to the curb.
Even saw Mike Stoops tweet today about visiting recruit and he hardly ever does that. Bet Lincoln was in his ear on that one.

If he's around this time next year its only because that was part of the bargain Riley cut to get the HC job.

That'd probably be why he wasn't on the list, if it was perceived they were co-coordinators
He's the sole DC now. I guess after this year he'll get bumped up, most likely right before he accepts a head coaching job.

Ya, he won't be at Ohio State. Would be very surprised if he isn't a HC somewhere.

This thread reminded me...what do you think of Diaco? I like what I've seen so far, but they haven't played a game yet so it doesn't mean much.

I think he's a great d-coordinator. He made an immediate impact taking a defense ranked 81st in efficiency in 2009 and turning it into a top 20 defense the following year. He also was the d-coordinator in 2012, which was the main reason why we played for the national championship. The defense has been pretty awful since he's left and that is with having some good talent on that side of the ball. He knows what he's doing IMO.

Year 3 with Chavis. Should start paying off. Hopefully one good defense before Sumlin gets canned.

Realistically what do you really think happens with that unit this year?

He lost most of his impact players on the DL, the LBs have been suspect at BEST, and the secondary is as well. Are aggies really expecting a great defensive unit?

Most of what we lost were on the outside. He's been building up the interior. Key will be in the new SC Coach.

?? Lost 2 LBs and to NFL DEs. Front 7 looks like the biggest concern

LB was a concern because they are young. DL is pretty deep. Worried more about outside

Just to throw a homer pick in:

Pruitt has been a DC for 4 years

Here are the DFEI rankings for his defenses:

2013 Florida St - 1st
2014 Georgia - 24th
2015 Georgia - 12th
2016 Alabama - 1st

And some context so you can see what he walked into at each:

In 2012, Florida St was 12th in DFEI.

In 2013, Georgia was 85th in DFEI. He improved them to 24th and then up to 12th.

In 2015, Alabama was was #1 in DFEI.

So basically he improved every year where possible.
If I would have to guess, I think DC's under Saban geg stigmatized as a puppet. I know because for most defensive coordinators under Saban I tend to agree. Pruitt is the exception not the rule, the dude is a proven winner despite his destination. He is definately a top 5 guy.

I'm not sold on Venables being the best DC. Clemson has been all about the offense.
