Question for Jackets' fans I wondered during this series... Wouldn't Jones and Werenski be more effective split up into the top 2 defensive groups? Seems like having one of them on ice for 80-85% of the game would be ideal.

At least they never gave up, but turned it on too late. DSP and Stephenson are monsters. Send both of them our way, please.

Heck of a series, congrats Caps fans. Good luck the rest of the way. At least we warmed you up for a Penguin style onslaught tonight.

And lets all look at the one big bright positive out of this: For all intents and purposes, Jack Johnson's career as a Blue Jacket is over.

Congrats, Caps fans.

So sorry, Jacket fans.

Another 2nd round Pens-Caps series, oh joy.

That's pretty good, Puck. I was thinking if the Caps won, this might be the most appropriate sendoff. (If i had time, replacing the audio/story with Panarin's voice would have been great ending with "Artemi Panarin was eliminated a week later at Nationwide Arena" at 3:20 ) ;)

Just really hard to fathom why the large discrepancy between regular season and playoff performance...

Rover. Jackets give up way too many quality chances going the other way when the opponents figure out it's a center covering the point. Pens feasted on it last year, and the Caps figured it out in game 3.

9 GA were power play goals?

Not Bob.

I think he chunked maybe 3 the whole series. The rest were very high quality chances.

And he stopped more high quality chances than he gave up, IMO.

Plus, I have no data but it feels like scoring overall is up. Maybe that's just because of the scores in the Pitt/Philly series.

Two things

(1) Small sample size - People always want to chalk up meaning to a very small sampling. Good example - Fleury. We were once told Fleury had the "clutch" gene. But after some strong early outings, his career .911 playoff save percentage is damn close to his .913 regular season save percentage.
(2) Look at the opponents - During the season you get to play your Buffalos and your Carollinas. Bob's last 3 series have been against the Pens and Caps. No slouches in the finishing department.

At least this postseason he had a great series against the Caps. He stole a lot of great scoring chances from the Caps. I don't think you can say he was a/the problem for the Jackets nor would I say he didn't show up. He played great.
