Hoping for a competitive year!

Are you fucking kidding me? Serena Williams needed a cup of coffee to beat Flavia Penetta at the Hopman cup?

She better stop the partying and be serious if she wants to have her 19th Grand Slam.

"Pennetta raced through the first set in just 19 minutes, winning 6-0 as a listless Williams made a string of unforced errors.
After the fifth game, a weary Williams asked an amused chair umpire if she was allowed have an "espresso" coffee delivered to her courtside.
At the end of the set, Williams received the coffee and it had an immediate impact, as she broke the drought by winning the first game of the second set.
Although Pennetta made another two early breaks to lead 3-2 in the second set, Williams then kicked into gear, rattling off the last 10 games of the match in an early-season reminder of her brutal power.
The American won 0-6, 6-3, 6-0 and said she needed something to perk her up, having only arrived in Perth on Saturday" Read more from http://sports.yahoo.com/news/mid-match-coffee-perks-tennis-star-williams-085746119.html

Yeah don't understand the rush in starting the Aussie Open so fast especially when most of these guys (unless they played at the YET or Davis Cup finals) probably last played a competitive match in late October/Early November

It's one of the reasons there's always a few unknowns who make a deep run here

I know they play that time in January because the ball kids are on vacation those 2 weeks. Personally I would rather see it pushed off to late Feb and have Victoria Secret models as the ball kids instead.

I agree. Serena needs to re-focus. Maybe this loss from Genie will wake her up. She's not a spring chicken anymore. Carolyn is younger and in better shape, if carolyn want to party let her. She has many more years to play tennis, but Serena's years are numbered.

nice to see fed beat milos yet again

i don't see fed winning another major, and it would be a huge achievement just to make another major final. but if he's having fun, good for him.

I agree.

I like watching FED and Tommy Haas still come up with big wins, whenever they do.
