Here's what you're looking for

NBA.com/Stats | Lineups Advanced

Heat Def Rtg was 106.5 (5th in the NBA) last year. Sorting by Def Rtg and filtering minutes played (40 seemed reasonable, just a guess), Whiteside is featured in 9 line ups that all post def rtg better than the team average. He is also featured in the 5 man line ups that the Heat played the most (247 minutes) and that lineups defensive rating hovers right around the team average of 106.

The point? Whiteside is vital to the defensive success of the Miami Heat.

Thanks man. Doesn't shock me at all. Back up my claims about lazy reporting by ESPN.

lazy reporting? ITS A STAT! LOL

ill direct you to my quote about advanced metrics from the last page:

o i totally agree- it is not near a perfect stat---- just about ALL the basketball advanced stats have drawbacks and holes in them and are subject to debate---- these stats are created by people a lot smarter than you or me trying to encapsulate performance.

I think they are helpful- but they are definitely open to debate--- however--- when one of those stats consistently says something, year after year, there probably has to be some kind of logical reasoning behind it.

its just funny that the Heat's D is better when Whiteside rides the pine for the last 3 years.

You clearly didn't read Wild turkey post that is directly from NBA.com

Here is what Wildturkey posted. Reading is fundamental:

Whiteside was featured in 9 lineups that posted better defensive rating that the Heat avg last year but the Heat defensive is better without Whiteside lmao.

As I said lazy ass reporting by ESPN. @wildturkey was able to back up his claims with a link and actual stats to back it up.

He's not playing with anything. If you click on the link, it shows you the DRTG for 5 man lineups the Heat used last year. Once again reading is fundamental

I almost forgot how Whiteside butt hurt you are.
What happened to your GUARANTEED laziness and meltdowns once he got paid?

Could you have been any more WRONG?

It's to be expected. He barely understands the basics of the game and doesn't grasp anything beyond the most basic stats.

He likely read both wildturkey's post and the link. He just didn't understand any of it.

Anthony Davis and CP3 above James Harden? I don't know about that. For defense? Absolutely.

That one has Steph over Leonard. I don't think anyone can come up with a perfect list though. It's all based off opinions. Unless you do something stupid like putting Draymond in the Top 3...

I like SI top 10 better. I would swap Harden and Russ and Steph/Leonard though. AD was rated too high in ESPN rankings

I don't have a problem with them being ranked ahead of Harden because they play both ends of the floor. Harden doesn't.

As great as he is offensively, he just gives too many points back, imo.

If the Greek freak develops his jump shot this season he will be #1 next year. I mean he's basically better than KD at everything except FT and 3pt jumper. He's a bigger stronger and more athletic KD with more skills but an average shot right now. He's only 22 or 23 years old so I'd say we're just delaying the inevitable by not putting him at #1 now. CP3's washed up ass and no defense Harden should be nowhere near this top ten list.

Well, I mean, that's kinda what that website is for. Use it some time and maybe you wouldn't get dunked on every time you post
