As the best free agent pickup by any team so far this year.

I think it was Barnwel that rated it an F.

Never heard of him. Shanahan said this was the RB he wanted.

I hadn't heard of him either and was wonder who the hell is this guy, and obviously he has a terrible opinion.

Yep. McKinnon reminds me of Deion Lewis. But I would not mind them getting a guy you mentioned; Ronald Jones, in the draft.

For me, Richburg is a bigger signing than McKinnon. Not that i don't like McKinnon, but Richburg will have more impact. Not to mention Jimmy G is a LITTLE bit safer.

Just that visually, we'll see McKinnon on TV, not Richburg.

Well he's also bigger and getting more money. I like both players and they still have plenty of cap space.

As a Vikings fan I like McKinnon but it was a bad signing IMO, seems a bit much to spend on a change of pace back, he’s not a player that can run the ball 10-15 times a game he’s better suited for five or six touches a game and you could have got that somewhere else much cheaper.

Most recent reports were that Shanahan really likes this guy and was willing to overpay to get him. So we'll see. I don't think any one back is going to get the bulk of the carries

I agree they could have gotten a change of pace RB for less but probabably not one as talented. Also the contract is constructed so the Niners can get out of it without much dead money.

Don't see why not? The top NFL RB's run 20 plus times a game, don't see why we can't get 15 rushes from McKinnon? I would only expect 12-15 rushes a game anyway, as Shannahan will also use other RB's.

In the last two seasons he's had 9 or more carries 20 times. In 13 of those games he had less than 3.70 yards per carry. Seven times he averaged less than 2.9 yards per carry. But you don't have to believe me, you'll see for yourself.

Maybe you're right.....then again....he was one of two guys that Kyle Shanahan specifically targeted in FA, and it's hard to bet against him as far as offensive minds go.

I wasn't overly crazy about it, but I'm more than willing to see what KS can do with the guy before making any statements.

Did Ninersickness every contact you? He loves this stuff. He knows about college players I never heard of. I would do it but I don't follow college ball and except for a few of the big names I don't know any of the players.

There are so many websites you can use now that tell you about the players, trust me i've got a lot of people into this that didn't know shit about college players and they love it. All you have to do is know what needs your team has and I trust you do, then you can use Walterfootball.com as a site to help you evaluate the players, I believe that's the site most of the fellas use.
