A few facts from a guy who is not a Trump guy:
Over the last 15 years over 40% of cops killed (Where there is a witness) were killed by black people who are 15% of the population. The "white" killers are misleading because the FBI statistics include Latinos in the "white" category because of the European (Spanish) decent.
Last year blacks were 22% of people killed by cops and 15% of the population (From the Washington Post database). Not exactly the incredible disproportion the left likes to point out, especially when you factor in the incredible amount of violent crime in the black community. The #1 cause of death for black men from ages 14-34 is homicide and about 1/2 of one percent are killed by the police. The stats are on the CDC website. When there's that much violence there will be a disproportionate amount of violent interaction with the police.
A police officer is 18.5 times more likely to be killed by a black man than an unarmed black man is likely to be killed by the police.
I don't think Trump did much of anything concerning BLM. BLM was a fractious group to begin with and as you correctly pointed out a lot of it was a media creation for ratings. Once Trump was on the scene the media moved on to him.
