... to having one of the best short yardage goal-line Backs in the league.

When you have a high quality O line in front of him. The onus, now more than ever, is on how the guys in the trenches perform.

I think if healthy, we have a pretty good offensive line.

If everyone is healthy, and all of our starters are available for most of the season, it's pretty good. Better than Washington, better than the Giants, not as good as the Cowboys, but better than a good handful of teams in the league w/ quality reserves who have demonstrated they can play and hold down the fort if a couple front-line guys go down temporarily.

Barring injuries or suspensions we have a solid and deep OL this year ... Wentz was really solid when given a clean pocket last year, but near the bottom of the rankings when under pressure. An improved OL along with better targets will certainly improve that.

I like this. Should help keep Wentz's jersey clean by picking up some yards between the tackles and keep them out of second and third and 10's.

I've been telling my brother for months that we should sign him if we don't grab a good back in the draft. Can't wait to see what he can do behind our oline.

5.4 yards a carry in short yardage situations, nice!

I think ours is pretty close to Dallas' - not a big difference. the main thing is our age.

The cowboys line won't be as good as last year. They lost 2 on their line and didn't address it much at all.

It will be interesting to see if he performs as well here, as he did in NE.

Great signing and just what we needed. WOW, I have been calling for a bruiser/scat back combo for well over a decade now. Always loved sproles, and this pumphry kid looks pretty good as well. It should give us a lot of options.

*** Eagles last season on 3rd and 4th Down with three or less yards

First Down Conversion: 54.2 percent (27th)

Yards Per Carry: 2.7 (21st)

Rushing First Down Percentage: 57.1 (26th)

Rushes for Negative Yardage: 9 (32nd, Last)

Blount averaged 5.4 yards per carry on 3rd/4th-and-3 or less, which led the NFL in 2016. That contributed to his NFL-leading 18 touchdowns.

Of Blount's 18 touchdowns last season, 11 were from one-yard out. 13 of them were from 5-yards or less.

Exactly what we needed in this RB rotation - a big bruising back that can get the tough yards when needed, and a powerful and dominant goal-line runner. Perfect 1 year deal - loving this offense now! If we can get some solid play at of our corners, this team is going to be really dangerous.

That points directly to an Oline problem. And possibly also a play selection problem. But not really a player performance problem.

I think our roster depth is improved pretty much across the board on offense. Howie has done his job. If a rookie or two step up, and a guy like Chance Warmack bounces back, we could be pretty good on offense. I think we'll be better in any case, but maybe more.

A year ago, after the Eagles failed to sign Gore, I suggested pursuing Blount. I bet they could have obtained him for a lot less then than what they just signed him for.

Had mixed feelings about Gore, anyway. His straight-ahead style would have been a good fit for Kelly's scheme, but he's old for a running back and has taken a beating, so there's no telling how long he'd last. How about LaGarrette Blount? He fits one of Kelly's preferred requirements (former Oregon Duck), he's a pothead, a hothead, and he can hit the hole with power. The hated Pats signed him last season to a 2-year contract, but I'm betting he could be acquired for a low draft pick. He's got to be a more attractive RB than Pierre Thomas or Reggie Bush, for God's sake!

If you were a smoky burgess fan, then you are old. I'm probably still older than you. 74.
Curious, how does a Seattle guy have such a diverse list of favorite teams? Did you move around a lot?
I think you realize that we signed Blount?

I had a feeling you were going to call out our newest to the Eagles family in regard to favorite teams. :L
