Hopefully they invest one of those first 3 picks next year in a potential young stud WR for Wentz.

Camp body for scrimmages ... couldn't even hack it with the Bears.

was exactly my thought. . Any WR we bring in is a #5 right now anyways. We are looking for depth. That's why we didn't need a WR in the draft this year. And if Alshon continues to develop with us, I can see a round 3 or 4 WR next year as well. I have a suspicion we will see Alshon even better this year, now that he is past his early injury that he played tough on all season. No one can accuse him of being soft!

Alshon 28 yrs (6'3)
Agholor 24 yrs (6'0)
Wallace 31 yrs (6'0)
Hollins 24 yrs (6'4)

Man, I didn't realize agholor was as young as he was. Same age as Hollins, who is just coming into his own. I really want to see Hollins get more playing time this year. That guy plays really physical and I would love to see him on the outside with Alshon more - instead of just playing as a substitute roll.

Wheaton 27yrs (5'11) ** it's just a 1 year deal

After undergoing shoulder surgery late in 2016, his Bears debut was marred by an appendectomy during training camp, a broken finger entering the season and a torn groin in October that effectively sabotaged the remainder of his 2017 campaign.

By the time his nightmare season was over, Wheaton had managed to turn 17 targets into just three receptions for 51 yards in 11 games. It was no surprise when he was released in March, falling victim to Chicago's overhaul at the position.

Wheaton will likely have to beat out a cast of characters including
Shelton Gibson, Bryce Treggs and Marquess Wilson for the final spot on the depth chart.

I've followed him a bit since his days with the Steelers - injuries have always been an issue for him, but even when he was producing he left a lot of plays on the field. Agreed that they signed him to be camp competition, push the young guys mentioned above for those final 1-2 WR spots on the depth chart.

Plus, since the Bears released him he does not factor into the compensatory pick formula...

Very meh signing for sure, but hey, a camp body. Keep in mind Alshon is recovering from his shoulder surgery and may miss some of camp.

I was going to come here and make the comment on “physical tools but can’t get out of his own head” as a negative and proof he will not crack the roster. Then I remembered someone re-lighting an Agholor thread with me saying the same thing about Agy last year. So who knows.

Wheaton has been bitten by the injury bug (also my biggest gripe about signing Alshon). Who knows. I think the flyer is based on someone that could (top end) push for the #5 spot at WR and possibly bring something to the return game. Other than that....camp body and not a bad little flyer to check on.

SPeeeeeeeeeD!

I used him in fantasy that one day he had 9-201-1 against the Seahawks. It was beautiful.

Wheaton won't survive the preseason. He probably won't even last through training camp. Not only have injuries ravished his career but the guy has stone hands.

Whatever, it doesn't hurt, and it is a win/win, IMO.

I have a box full of tools that I don't know how to use. Having and using are two different things.

Upshaw is interesting as has a chance to stick as a rotational guy given Jernigan's situation.

Jones - meh. I'd be surprised if he even came close to making the 53.

Jones is news to me. I did see the Upshaw visit news yesterday (as well as Terrence West). I am totally down with Upshaw being added to the DL.

Matt Jones or Terrence West....meh. Probably good for looks and see who sticks....but not exciting names.

I do like Jones' size. But thats about it at this point. If he puts the ball on the floor once in the preseason he is toast.

They both have good athletic attributes and come from WCOs.

One could run well and stick. Good signings as far as this time of year signings go.
