I know that we are still doing the sitcom draft, but I really want to start talking about football again, so I'd like to revisit the D/ST scoring of negative points in D1. Right now for points against it is:

From 0 to 0, award 10point(s)
From 1 to 6, award 7point(s)
From 7 to 13, award 5point(s)
From 14 to 17, award 2point(s)
From 18 to 27, award 0point(s)
From 28 to 34, award -2point(s)
From 35 to 45, award -5point(s)
From 46 to 99, award -10point(s)

I would like to suggest we change it to:

From 0 to 0, award 10point(s)
From 1 to 6, award 7point(s)
From 7 to 13, award 5point(s)
From 14 to 17, award 2point(s)
From 18 to 27, award 0point(s)
From 28 to 37, award -2point(s)
From 38 to 99, award -5point(s)

This would raise the -2 point total to 37 and then anything over 38 would be -5 eliminating the -10 option completely because I just think it's way too penalizing.


I'd also like to suggest we change the yardage against points, because it seems a little too stringent. When was the last time you ever even heard of a team giving up less than 100 yards of offense? This is what it is now:

From 0 to 100, award 10point(s)
From 101 to 199, award 7point(s)
From 200 to 249, award 5point(s)
From 250 to 299, award 2point(s)
From 300 to 349, award 0point(s)
From 350 to 399, award -2point(s)
From 400 to 449, award -5point(s)
From 450 to 499, award -7point(s)
From 500 to 999, award -10point(s)

I'd like to suggest we change it to:

From 0 to 149, award 10 points
From 150 to 199, award 7 points
From 200 to 249, award 5 points
From 250 to 324, award 2 points
From 325 to 399 award 0 points
From 400 to 449 award -2 points
From 450 to 999 award -5 points

Once again eliminating the -10 point completely. I just think it's so hard to gain points on defense with these scoring rules you're just hoping that they don't have negative points each week.

I'm with you @Bandit - the NFL has changed, with more points being scored as well as producing more yardage in the process.

personally am fine with the stringent D scoring. Actually makes a good D worth something. Allowing more than 35 pts or 400 yards is a losing formula in the NFL. Should equate to a negative in fantasy. Just my 2 cents

I agree that it should be negative Treff, and it still would be worth -4 in your scenario, I just think that it's way too hard to counteract the negatives with the positives since fumbles and interceptions are only worth 2 and sacks are worth 1. Right now if your quarterback throws 2 pick 6's and then your defense gets you 2 interceptions, a fumble recovery, and 3 sacks, but it gives up 21 more points and 400 yards, you are at -1 point. That just seems ridiculous to me. Once again though, that's just my opinion.
