I like this, especially for depth and the fact that Bennett's trying to limp through a foot injury...

This makes me second guess the Marsh trade. I did anyway when it originally happened, and now we are in a bit of a bind with the depth.

I feel like the Marsh trade has paid off... We basically got Coleman, 5th and 7th round picks in return... Coleman has been a very solid DB for us and he plays more than Marsh did as well... I don't think Avril was injured as well as Bennett having a foot injury when we traded him so I can't really fault the front office for thinking they had plenty of depth at the position...

I liked Marsh but felt he was limited. Coleman has been superb. We are looking deep at CB, especially with Lane and hopefully Shead returning soon.
Oh, back to topic. If the coaches like Freeney, I'm good with it (not that it matters).
Having an open roster spot gives flexibility.

Marsh wasn't really playing DE for his. He was playing Sam.

If he has some gas left in the tank then sign him up for passing downs. Always could use line help.

I would say that this would second guess the Dion Jordan signing. I dont think he is anywhere close to playing so the seahawks are looking at other means

No risk here, 1 year deal, if he can help a bit awesome, if not, our D line is still solid... Hopefully Bennett can get back to 100 percent, if he has to take some time off so be it...

The Dion Jordan signing carries zero risk at all. If we need him, he's there. If not, we can cut him or put him on IR. With Marsh, he's gone.

I like this too. Freeney may not be in his prime but he can still bring it when needed for a few plays a game. And on this defense , he doesn't have to be "the guy", just one of the guys.

Well, I suppose you can look at it like that, but Coleman was already on the team via trade when Marsh was dealt. If the team wanted to, they could have had both. We traded away Marsh, I think, because they liked Bass. A couple weeks later Bass is cut and now we're in search of DE depth because of injuries to 2 older players.

Freeney was always one of the better tech pass rushers in the NFL. Yes OBVIOUSLY he was athletic but his technique is what registered so many sacks. That doesn't necessarily go away with older age. Yah he'll struggle obviously because he's 37, but I expect him to be a decent rotational guy and solid against lesser left tackles or possibly switching him to the other side and going against right tackles.

Freeney has at least played football recently. Simeon Rice is trying to get back into the league with Tampa after a 10-year break from football.

On a related note, it's not at all surprising that the Hawks want to get Freeney into the game on Sunday against Houston.

That is hilarious!

I had to look it up to see if you weren't just joking around, but he's seriously looking at a comeback.

This is a pipe dream, he has no chance.
