Ok Thursday night is the big one. What do you think are keys to the game? How can the Heels pull this one out? We know the Heels have advantage inside and Duke has the advantage outside, but what decides the game? I think if Duke is hitting the 3 ball, hard to keep up with them. U make 2 and they make 3, get behind and can't catch up. I worry about Paige and all the minutes he is playing. Scared he will hit a brick wall.:suds:

The Heels absolutely need to stay out of foul trouble. They also need to stay in front of the ball to avoid the drive and kick for 3. Duke is not invincible as they showed over the weekend. UNC needs to get off to a good start. McAdoo should be well rested ;), but I just hope he doesn't try to do too much early and lets the game come to him.

Ya McAdoo should be well rested is 100% correct. He only played 13 min. Main one I worry about is Paige as far as min. I think staying in front will be big. But the Heels have not done a very good job at that. As far as that goes, no team has with the way they are calling fouls. How are you supposed to stay in front will u r back peddling and they are going foward? not sure I agree with the new rules.

I like the new rules as it provides more freedom of movement on offense. The problem is the total inconsistency of the calls from game to game as a result. Early in the year everything was called, then it swung back to last year and teams could mug the ballhandler without fouling, but against FSU it seemed like there were alot of touch fouls again. That said, McAdoo just needs to be a little smarter, like not trying to draw a charge when he already had 3 fouls.

Not trying to crash your boards (as I clicked on this link thinking it was the general college hoops board... then realized it was the UNC Board.. sorry) but yes like already has been said... take Duke to the hoop and get them in foul trouble. Make Duke run around trying to guard everyone...Play tight D on the perimeter and force Duke to drive the lane.

I think the biggest factor of this game with be who wins the FT line. Not attempts but makes as I think this game will be called very tightly and the deciding factor will be the FT line.

    Best of luck!

    Go DUKE! :yahoo:

Not a problem redseat. That game plan u have sounds good, except Heels struggle from line. That is what will take them down in a close game. Hope tomorrows game is a classic like most of them have been.

Yeah I have noticed this year that the Heels have been poor at the charity stripe. Do they not practice it? I would think Roy would make them practice a lot.

I don't really see how this game will not be a classic game! I mean they always are! I just hope the officials don't decide the game (because they are too whistle happy or not too whistle happy)... I mean these two teams are rivals and well obviously have bad blood between them. I just want the players to decide the game.... I wonder what officials have this game

We've got to be able to penetrate the paint. McAdoo must have a great game. We need to make most of our shots, including from the free throw line.

Defense is going to have to be loose because Duke can kill you from the outside. It's going to be a tough one.

Yes they do practice free throws. Roy says they shoot over 75% in practice, but can't do it in a game. If I remember right, Roy said McAdoo hit like 58 in a row in practice. Sure wished he could do that in a game.

True, practice with no one starring at you from behind the hoop is one thing but trying to shoot at the oppositions site (heck even at home during a game) especially a Duke v UNC game can certainly mess with your head! I still don't get why the student section does the "Woooosh" when their teams player is shooting... I mean hello doing that while the player is facing you is freaking ridiculously hard to concentrate with!

I have no clue who can win this one. My guess is who has the ball last gets a chance to win it.

But I really don't care either way. I think both teams are every bit as good as SU so I hope you guys just beat each other up. :suds:

What constitutes a good game for McAdoo? Rebounds and taking charges!! His offensive game is atrocious. :gaah:

This was a team win. That is how the Heels have been playing. If everyone steps up, then no one player has to have huge points. I would think 10 points and 10 reb is a pretty good game.
