Bahr now has 49 K's in 35 innings.

Gonzalez hit a grand-slam

See that building in LF? Heliot Ramos hit that building with his homerun.....

He also was down 0-2 another time and worked a walk out of it.

Is that the new Augusta stadium? SRP Park at Riverside Village? Nice! And a nice crowd!

Yeah, it's their new park. I just pulled that image off the internet. Seems like people really enjoy it. I'm just mad they didn't install video feeds...

Tanner Murphy got assigned to San Jose, where he took Connor Sanabosh's roster spot. Sanabosh get sent to extended spring training. Not sure why Murphy was needed. His offensive production would probably be the same as Sanabosh's. He'll probably settle in as Matt Winn's backup. The only upgrade Murphy could bring is potentially defense. Not sure how he compares to Sanabosh.

As for the old catcher, Hanigan, he still has not been assigned a roster spot. Interestingly, Hector Sanchez has been activated from the DL at Sacramento, causing a ripple effect through the org. Jeff Arnold got bumped to Richmond, putting three catchers on that roster. Considering that puts the total roster at 26, I would assume John Riley is going to move back to Augusta soon.

You obviously don't have a fondness for following obscure minor league backup catchers that bounce around their organization's farm system.
Give him a break. He doesn’t follow the farm system that close.

Sunday 5/13

Pitching Line: IP-H-R-ER-BB-K

AAA: Sacramento River Cats lost 3-2 (game 1)

Hunter Pence 2-4, 1 RBI
Orlando Calixte 1-2, 2B, 1 R, 1 BB
Austin Slater 1-2, 2 BB, 1 K

Casey Kelly 6.0-6-3-3-1-3
D.J. Snelten 1.0-1-0-0-0-0

Sacramento River Cats WON 5-4 (game 2) (20-18)

Chris Shaw 3-4, HR (10th), 2 RBI, 2 R
Eury Perez 2-5, 2B, 2 R
Hector Sanchez 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 CS (1st)
Orlando Calixte 0-1, 3 BB, 1 K

Madison Younginer 2.0-0-1-1-3-2
Caleb Baragar 2.2-3-1-1-0-0
Josh Osich 1.0-1-0-0-2-0
Ray Black 1.1-1-2-2-1-2
Tyler Rogers 1.0-0-0-0-0-1

Shaw now has 21 XBH in 36 games this season, showing off his great raw power. He also has 61 K's to just 7 walks. He's shown a better eye in the past, so hopefully he bounces back in that regard.

Pence is hitting, but not with any sort of power. He has a .357 SLG/.719 OPS in AAA. Apparently he's trying out a new batting stance.

Rough couple first games for Black, but a couple of encouraging signs. He's still striking guys out, which is good (5 K's in 2 innings). He also pitched on just one day of rest, which I believe is a first for him as a Giant. If he wants to be in the majors, he has to be able to go back-to-back days and rebound. To this point he's gone 2+ days of rest (usually more) between appearances. Hopefully he just has some jitters right now.

AA: Richmond Flying Squirrels lost 3-2 (19-16)

Miguel Gomez 3-4, 2 2B, 1 R. The Giants should call this guy up.
Dylan Davis 1-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K

Chase Johnson 0.2-4-3-3-1-0
Mike Connolly 5.1-1-0-0-0-5
Jake McCasland 3.0-1-0-0-1-3

Johnson's second start back didn't go nearly as well as his first, but it's still good to see him out there.

A+: San Jose Giants WON 3-0 (22-15)

Jacob Heyward 2-4, HR (3rd), 1 RBI, 2 R

Logan Webb 3.0-0-0-0-1-4
DJ Myers 6.0-1-0-0-0-4

The Giants have all kinds of piggy-back starters going on right now. This time the Giants shutdown Lancaster. Webb was throwing up to 96 with his fastball. He has good stuff

A: Augusta GreenJackets WON 10-2 (22-14)

Logan Baldwin 4-5, 3 2B, 5 RBI, 1 R
Jeffry Parra 2-4, HR (3rd), 2 RBI, 2 R
T.J. Bennett 2-3, 3 R
Orlando Garcia 2-4, 1 R

Jose Marte 6.0-4-2-0-1-6
John Russell 2.0-1-0-0-1-1
Camilo Doval 1.0-1-0-0-0-1

Baldwin has some interesting tools, with his speed being the biggest asset

Monday 5/14

AAA: Sacramento River Cats lost 8-5 (20-19)

Ryder Jones 2-4, 2B, 3 RBI, 1 R
Hunter Pence 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 K
Steven Duggar 2-5, 1 R, 1 SB (5th), 2 K

Jose Flores 4.2-10-6-5-0-5
Nolan Riggs 2.1-2-2-2-2-1
Connor Overton 2.0-2-0-0-1-2

AA: Richmond Flying Squirrels WON 7-3 (20-16)

Luigi Rodriguez 4-5, 3B, 2 R, 2 RBI
Aramis Garcia 2-4, 2B, 1 R, 1 RBI
Ali Castillo 3-5, 3 R

Luigi is hitting .407/.490/.581 over 29 games this season. He's certainly due for a taste of AAA, when the OF competition starts to thin out a bit.

Cory Taylor 5.1-6-2-2-2-2
Will LaMarche 2.2-2-1-1-0-0
Dillon McNamara 1.0-0-0-0-0-1

A+: San Jose Giants lost 8-7 in 10 innings (22-16)

Jacob Heyward 1-3, HR (4th), 2 RBI, 1 R, 2 BB, 1 outfield assist
Matt Winn 2-4, HR (5th), 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 passed ball (8th!)
Jalen Miller 1-4, 2B, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K

Mac Marshall 1.0-1-1-1-2-2
Sandro Cabrera 4.0-5-4-1-3-5
Dylan Rheault 3.0-5-1-1-0-4
Rodolfo Martinez 2.0-2-2-0-0-2

Typical Cal League game. Some bad news though as Mac Marshall left his start in the second inning with an apparent injury. He's been recovering from an elbow injury (not Tommy John). Hopefully just precautionary.

A: Augusta GreenJackets WON 5-2 (23-14)

Ryan Kirby 3-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 3 R
Heliot Ramos 1-5, 3B, 2 K

AAA: Sacramento River Cats lost 8-5 (20-20)

Chase d'Arnaud 2-5, HR (4th), 2B, 1 RBI, 2 R, 1 K
Myles Schroder 1-2, HR (3rd), 1 RBI, 1 R, 2 BB
Chris Shaw 1-4, 2B, 1 RBI, 3 K, error (2nd)
Steven Duggar 1-4, 2B, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K

Shaw left the game, but I'm thinking it was as a defensive replacement. Not entirely positive, though.

Tyler Beede 6.2-6-4-4-4-3
D.J. Snelten 0.2-1-4-1-2-0
Manny Parra 1.2-1-0-0-0-3

Another rough one for Beede, especially with his command. ERA sits at 5.58

AA: Richmond Flying Squirrels lost 5-1 (20-17)

Luigi Rodriguez 2-3, 3B, 1 R, 1 BB

Update: Luigi is up to .416/.500/.607

Shaun Anderson 5.0-4-5-4-2-6
Dan Slania 2.0-1-0-0-0-3
Caleb Simpson 1.0-1-0-0-1-1

All of the runs against Shaun came in the 4th inning, including a 3-run homer. Was sharp outside of that.

A+: San Jose Giants lost 7-5 (22-17)

Bryce Johnson 2-4, 2B, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB (6th)
Jalen Miller 3-5, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R, 2 K

I'm starting to root for Myles Schroder to make the big league club at some point this season (maybe a September callup). The guy plays all over the diamond. In the past two years alone, he's started at least 7 games each at catcher, 1st base, 2nd base, shortstop, 3rd base, center field and right field (and has also played a couple of games at left field and pitched in relief once this year).
The guy is 30 years old and has played with the organization since 2011, after being drafted in the 27th round of the 2007 draft. I cannot remember why he did not play for 4 years after being drafted. It would make a great story. He's putting up the numbers in AAA so far. Hopefully he continues to do so to warrant the call up.
