the Cardinals are picking up some steam. They have a very outside shot at getting into the playoffs but if they could extend this winning streak they might make things interesting. I had all but written them off and have been focusing more on the Rangers lately. :embarassed:

I grew up in SW Missouri. Just south of Springfield. Spent a lot of time in Arkansas though. We showed Coon hound's and Quarter horses all through northern Arkansas. Way back in the 70's though.

Now 2.5 games back of Atlanta with the Mets, Cubs and Stros to finish up the season. They need to win out to have a chance. They are playing well and have the very real opportunity to do so. If they do they could go 21-5 in the month of September and still might not make the playoffs. Goes to show you that you just can't give away valuable games at the start of the season.

I think what is happening is that the Phils are trying to draw the Cards in the 1st round so they don't have to play Arizona. Smart? I don't know. Cards should have already clinched but those two bullpen losses really sting. Not sure what the heck happened to Atlanta but they've fallen completely apart. I know they have some pitching issues with injuries to their top guys but still this kind of crash is Bostonian.

I still can't believe it. I am elated but my joy may evaporate if Halladay, Lee and company play up to their ability.

Also, what the heck was up with that 1st baseman? That may have been the worst play I've ever seen not made in such a crucial situation. The guy just froze. I am grateful but that was a strange play by a major league player.
