Just saw the the Cards released DD. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I know he was aging a bit but I think he has a year or two left of good production.

The door is still open for him to return. Docket didn't want to lower his price without seeing his value on the open market. Unless one of the not-so-good teams that are flush with cash overpay for his services, I can see Dockett returning.

He's going to get more money somewhere else. I think he's probably gone. Same thing happened with Dansby. Cards have the depth to survive and maybe then some.

It's been reported that the Cardinals offered him a base $2.5 mil with another $1.5 mil in playing time incentives. I would love to have him back, but he will be 34 this season & his play has decline over the last 3 seasons. I thought the Rucker/Kelly combo played well last season when Docket was out. Rucker had more sacks last season that Docket has had in any one season since 2010

Are the Niners going to offer him more than that? I guess he has interest from everyone in the NFC West, but like 99% of these situations, it probably comes down to $$$. Be nice to have him back. It will feel odd going to a game and not seeing Dockett on the sidelines.

I came here to see what the rumors were with Dockett. If I had to bet money, he will be back in Arizona next year. The 49ers kick a lot of tires in Free Agency but never sign anyone of significance. Last year, a number of free agents came for visits but the team didn't sign any of them.

Signed with the 49ers on a 2 year deal. He always wanted to play for the 49ers. It was his favorite team growing up.

He hated the 9ers with a passion. Only reason he signed with them was to stick it to the Cards. He bad mouthed the 9ers more than any Cardinal I can ever recall doing so.

Yeah, I think when he came out of college he may have preferred the Niners, but this decision was all about $$$ (and probably a little pride thrown in). He will be missed, but at this point, probably more for his leadership.
