Do you believe the Browns can actually turn things around this time?

I would honestly like to see them become somewhat successful and make a playoff run in the near future. However, my hunch is that history will repeat itself and the Browns will continue to go full Cleveland Browns mode regardless of the moves they've made this off-season and having two top 5 draft picks.

The lack continuity has certainly been an issue for them over the years, but if there was ever a time to tear it all down and start over, they should have fired Hue Jackson. All excuses aside, I am hard-pessed to believe that the guy who just coached them to 1-16 and 0-16 seasons respectively is ever going to turn them into a successful franchise regardless of what tools they give him.

Nope, they'll draft Josh Allen and then trade #4 to some team who will take an all pro, and then end up taking some pedestrian players in the late first...

Josh Allen will set the record for the lowest rookie completion % of all time (low 40s) and the Browns as a TEAM will walk into oncoming Ohio traffic... which is basically 1 car.

Sashi did a great job acquiring draft and cap space capital. Dorsey has been doing a good job deploying that capital so far.

Given the players they have in place now, it would take an implosion of epic proportions in the draft for them to not turn things around.

It's a win/win situation for Cleveland right now. If things turn around, they're in great shape. However, with the wealth of talent that will be there after this season, I think Hue has to win at least 6 games or he's gone, in which case bringing in a new coach should work. Dorsey has a great name in the league and the pieces are here to build a winner. Plus, building a winner in Cleveland would be the biggest gold star ever.

Wouldn't two wins constitute as a turn around?

They appear to be on the upswing. I like what their FO is doing. They seem to be a lot smarter about their decisions lately. As far as this season goes, I think 6-8 wins is the ceiling.

They will be close to 8-8 this year. Sniff the playoffs next year.
Their team is not as bad as there record was. They've made good free agent signings (Landry, Hyde, Taylor and others).
They are loaded with draft picks. Even if they whif at 50% of them.

  • 1st Round: No. 1 overall
  • 1st Round: No. 4 overall
  • 2nd Round: No. 33 overall (1st in round)
  • 2nd Round: No. 35 overall (3rd in round)
  • 2nd Round: No. 64 overall (32nd in round)
  • 3rd Round: No. 65 overall (1st in round)
  • 4th Round: No. 101 overall (1st in round)
  • 4th Round: No. 123 overall (23rd in round)
  • 5th Round: No. 138 overall (1st in round)
  • 5th Round: No. 159 overall (22nd in round)
  • 6th Round: No. 175 overall (1st in round)
  • 7th Round: No. 219 overall (1st in round)

Those first 6 picks are crucial to where they will be in a few years. Either on the cusp of perennial conference and division contender or back to ground zero.

They have to get the right QB. Darnold throws too many INT's. Who did Allen play against. Go with Mayfield. Barkley if possible at number 4 or Chubb if he's taken. Yes, they can turn it around.

Yes.

The Steelers are decaying, the Ravens are decayed, and the Bengals.

Good timing.

I can see them maybe getting to 5 wins this season. They won't sniff the playoffs though.

Not as long as Hue is snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I think they are on their way up, just not sure about Hue leading them.

The Browns hired an excellent GM in John Dorsey and I expect them to be a contender by next season.

He is excellent and thats why he kept Hugh. He can draft whoever he wants without input from the coach then handpick someone next year that agrees with his philosophy after he fires Hugh and in a few years if whoever he drafted doesn't work out he can put the blame on Hugh and the average fan won't know any better(I doubt Haslam will either :tsk:).

Yes. But I've said that the last few years, so they probably won't.
