Verlander had the most 1st place votes. 2 people leaving him off their ballot made the difference.

Not necessarily...the voters had five picks (1st through 5th). Even if both voters had placed Verlander as their 4th choice, he still would have ended up one vote short.

Still, how was Verlander NOT one of the Top 5 pitchers in the AL this past year? 1.00 WHIP (1st), 254 K (1st), 26 quality starts (T-1st), 3.04 ERA (2nd), 16-9 record despite shitty hitting support. Those two writers in Florida either know nothing about baseball, or they had an agenda. Either way, the BBWAA should drop their asses immediately.

Love the Kate Upton Tweets. Absolute gold...

Hey @MLB, I thought I was the only one allowed to fuck @JustinVerlander ?! What two writers didn't have them on their ballot?

- - - - -

He had the most 1st place votes and 2 writers didn't have them on their ballots?!! Can you pick more out-of-touch people to vote @MLB?

Fred Goodall (AP, Tampa Bay Chapter): Porcello, Kluber, Happ, Britton, Sanchez
Bill Chastain (MLB.com, Tampa Bay Chapter): Porcello, Britton, Kluber, Sale, Tanaka

Happ had a great season... still not a better season overall than Verlander. Sale and Tanaka... not even close. These two writers are idiots.

I agree....I can't see how you could leave Verlander out of a top 5 vote.
Stuff like this has happened before. It makes you wonder if the voting is honest?

Tanaka has no buissness ahead of JV.

Not really sure how Sale would be either.

Britton I don't agree with, but I get it.

No problem with Britton. Sale seemed to make some ballots based on past reputation. His 2016 season was very good, but hardly Cy Young caliber.

To be honest...no AL pitcher had a real CY caliber year. Porcello's year stands out for his victory totals, but little else. Compared to some of the seasons several NL starters put up, their AL counterparts dragged behind. It might have been a good year to give the award to Britton. (Now I don't want to get Kate upset and get her boobs shoved in my face but.....oh, wait.....)

It was his to lose until the end of July.

And he definitely lost it.

The two writers from Tampa Bay stated that they left him off because they voted prior to his last two starts when he brought his Era down from 3.19 to 3.04. He still should have been top 5 imo.

Dodgers interested in Kinsler. Verlander interested in LA scene.

OK. Package the two. Verlanders $84mil and Kinsler's $21.5 (and more). Dodgers have the cash to get around Kinsler's request of an extension (if he is reasonable). Verlander would want to be in LaLa land with Bouncy. The finances are the key thing here....so here is the flexibility. Scott Kazmir is owed $35mil. That counts a 2 year contract and deferred cash over a five year period. The Dodgers would be glad to be rid of him. Perhaps Detroit could work out a deal where they pick up part of Kazmir's money as part of a larger deal - sort of a trade off for the increase in Kinsler's cost to the Dodgers. Detroit would also get other players in return....hopefully SP Jose DeLeon and 1b/of Cody Bellinger. Tigers would drop around $80mil in salary and land two good prospects and a veteran SP (and more???)

Waiting for some BIG trades from Avila....so far, just blah, blah, blah.

If Avila wants to be my hero, I'd like to see him include Jimbo Harbaugh in a trade. Maybe for a Middle School Coach ''to be named''.

It will be very interesting to see if Avila has the balls to pull the trigger on a major trade. I'm sure he'll find a partner to complete a JD trade, but I have serious doubts that he has the guts to pull off a trade involving Verlander, VMart, Kinsler, and Cabrera. Unless some GM sets him up.

PS: Ben Revere is now a FA. He stunk like the Wolverine's offense last year....but he has had some good years and plays a good CF. If they can get him on a one year deal for around $6mil....he's better than what they have now.

Last time I saw Chester, he looked capable of holding it down. Even got a new glove for the first time in 30 years.

(I also saw "Mr. Sunday" beer today. Charlie "Paw Paw"
maxwell special. Brewed right in Paw Paw.)
