Derek Jeter Strikeout Thread

Upon seeing this thread for the last few years on cbs, he has decided the pursuit is not as important as milking his latest injury. Of all the players ahead of him on this list, the Captain has the fewest home runs.

yep, about 15%, if you include walks as at bats

I don't understand why this matters. Are they retroactively going to change the rules to make a strikeout count for 2 outs or something? I also see you didn't mention the number of plate appearances these guys had. I'd guess that Jeter had several thousand more plate appearances than a lot of these guys. Jeter strikes out quite a bit for a guy who's purported to be a contact hitter, but his big career strikeout totals are a function of his longevity as well as the era he played in (where strikeouts are up universally around the game).

Its just the counter to those who use the Merits of Totals when judging a players career.. Like Home Runs, Hits, RBIs etc etc

No one usually bothers to ask HR/AB in that situation, now do they? 3,000 hits is usually a pretty big bench Mark on its own, regardless of BA, no?
