Sounders' Clint Dempsey has irregular heartbeat, out for World Cup qualifiers

JK will have to replace the most irreplaceable US player for the time being. And I suppose there's a chance of retirement which could mean missing out on Russia. I know there are some young guys with promise but they are going to have to grow up in a hurrry.

Dempsey probably wouldn't have made the Russia WC squad, anyway. That's if USA even qualifies.

No reason to lose to St. Vincent without him. The Trinidad game is a little tricky but I believe its in our home. Should get all 6 points and advance to the final WC qualifying stage

Fine. We need to learn to win without him. 50/50 chance he's not even on the Russia squad imo.

I love Dempsey but he's probably done for good, even though I know he doesn't want to be. He's had a great career and accomplished much -- ticker problems are nothing to mess with. He's got a wife and 4 kids too. Time for the USMNT to transition to life without him.
